Haunani Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 what's the right way to treat an inflammed muscle? I was opening a heavy meal sliding door and it didn't budge, I pulled and pulled o this door, and I think I pulled my muscle right at the blade of my shoulder and have had a dull constant ache for a week now from my shoulder blade to my neck and shoulder down my arm, my fingers are fine. I think it's more irritating that this *kink* hasn't gone away. When I work out and use weights, I'm feel fine, I try to stretch as much as possible, but that ache is still there., not throbbing, just dull achey pain. When I'm just in limbo, I feels worst. I heard to put ice packs on it, then heat then I heard put heat on it after a workout, then ice, then heat. If I don't workout do I put ice packs first. If I do workout then heat? What's the protocol? Anyone know?
tiki Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 Docs have always told me ice initially, heat thereafter. Try to massage it out if you CAN. Use an OTC topical muscle cream...I think ben-gay or something. S t r e t c h. Increase water intake. Get to a doc if it doesn't get better soon.
Naive Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 Yeah I've also heard it's good when you massage it.
Author Haunani Posted October 8, 2004 Author Posted October 8, 2004 when you massage it for sure.........'except once your done massaging, it's back to sameo sameo......ugh
