Frankly, I am sick of you guys and your b.s. when it comes to sex and the double standards! You guys want your cake and eat it too. You want LOVE and marriage and sex outside and porn inside and then you put down the females for "having feelings" of insecurity or wanting commitment etc. And you write on this board "how heartbroken" you are when the woman leaves you... It could be the other guys are just quieter and that is why you never hear them disagree, or maybe the majority of guys do think the way you described. In any event, there definitly are guys out there that aren't hypocrits (I'm not a hipocrit). I think the guys that don't spend their time talking about porn or all the girls they have banged are the ones wondering where all the "good" girls are.

jamesh1985 Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 i gotta say not all men are like that, but a majority are, as a male i have found i am totally different on those issues, when people i know talk about women like objects or how they are just in it for sex i usually just walk away, i even have a problem with guys who stare at women as they walk by and say comments about how they would like to "hit that" i find it rude and disrespectful. i know that the double standard will probally be around for a long time but just keep in mind that not all males are like that.

First, I think most guys don't think infidelity on their part is okay. There are tons of decent guys out there. Second, I don't really think porn is okay (well, not when you have a gf who is confortable with it, and expecially when you are throwing it in her face), but I see why many guys actually think porn is okay. Their point of view is actually as good as mine. While I'm bothered by porn I'm trying to live with my bf's huge porn collection because I accept the fact that my own point of view is not necessarily *right*. It is worth as much as his. There are still quite a lot double standards though *sigh*. You seem to have met a lot of jerks (or just a BIG one) lately, I'm sorry about it. Don't allow them to make you think that "all men are alike"!

Whatever my faults, I was totally faithful to my TBXW, even when presented with opportunities to cheat. That's simply because I think infidelity is repugnant, and a gross breach of trust. (My Dad feels the same way.) It's not an exagerration to say that, second to a parent abusing or neglecting a child, it's probably the worst brand of emotional pain a person can inflict on another. But, while it's a generalization, I understand where it's coming from -- you sound like somebody who's been hurt in the recent past, and I'm sorry for that. After I learned the truth about my TBXW's extra-marital activities, I went through a brief period of wondering if I could ever trust a woman again. It didn't last long, however, because I quickly realized that she wasn't representative of women as a gender, and that to think otherwise was unfair to millions of women I didn't even know. I called her names like whore/slut/etc. on a number of occasions. All out of anger. But, one thing I've since tried to do is apply those words equally to refer to MALE serial cheaters. It's only fair. Anybody want to join me in this effort?

Because men r always encourageing each other and fighting each other. A gay man who has sex with many other gay men is called a slut. Women r bitchy. They have to complain about almost everything (trust me i've lived with one, it was ****). So therefore, women call a women who has alot of sex a slut becos they r jealous that they r not getting any or little at all! Alot of women out there dont want to settle down with a guy until they r alot older. But one thing i agreed with one of the replies is that if you only focus on the bad guys and how terrible they are, you are most likely to meet one like that. I think I learn that from psychology class or sth, it's all how we perceive things, and if we keep on thinking that all guys are like that we will only meet guys who ARE like that....I am only saying this because I actually have the very same feelings too, I always think guys are Jerkz and wonder why i often meet jerkz like that....and finally it does come to me that I'm focussing too much on the negative side that never let me realize that there are better people out there. It's not easy to meet one that's up to our standard but we can at least hope, that's the only way to make our life easier I guess.

In fact, the attacks tell us more about the attacker than the gender maligned. Yes, people cheat; people watch porn. So what. That's life in the big city. By blaming gender for bad individual choices you , perhaps unwittingly, give the culprit a "gender-excuse" by which to avoid personal responsibility: The guy can always say, "My Y chromosone made me do it." In today's society, it is OK for men to do certain things, and it is not OK for women to do those things. I assume that you live on this planet, and in these times, so it might be best to just get used to it. This is how things are, and things are not changing. Live on earth or move somewhere else. I do not think there is any double standard. I think life is the way that it is, and we must all deal with it. If women think womanizing is disgusting and evil, why then would they expect to do something similarly disgusting and have anyone think highly of them? Men who do such things are disgusting. Women who do such things are disgusting. Women who believe they have a right to indulge in decadance and be viewed in a positive light confuse me. As for men getting away with all of these behaviors, this is obviously not so. If it were perfectly acceptable for men to do these sorts of things, you would not be complaining about how wicked these behaviors are, and how ridiculous it would be if such actions were seen as saintly.
