Amers3220 Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Hey I need some truthful advice I'm 17 and won't turn 18 for about 7 months...I want to date a guy that is 26. We have alot in common...that is why I am pursuing it. I never thought I would like a guy that much older than me but I really like this guy. and he treats me somuch better than the other guys have. I'm afraid about what my mom will say...specially my dad. But my dad isn't involved in my life that much because he is drunk every night. Anyways...I believe that age doesn't matter as long as it isn't a huge difference and I'm also mature enough to make my own decsions but still...I want other's input. Thank You

A relationship, or any type of fraternization with this twenty-six year-old, would be illegal before you are at the very least eighteen. I would tend to think there is something seriously wrong with this man if he is interested in you at your young age. Seven months makes a huge difference. I would still possibly question a twenty-six year-old who wanted to be with an eighteen year-old. You are just finishing high school. This guy has been out of high school for a long while, having experienced life. You have yet to experience many things in your life. This could be troublesome. Wait until you are at least of legal age for this man to have any excuse to socialize with you.

I realize by saying this I am going against what I asked....advice. And I believe that if your heart tells you to do something...do it. What do u have to lose? Also...We wouldn't have sex. I am a virgin an am going to be one till marriage. If I date him....that isn't against the law. You should maybe research that alittle more before saying that. fredrolin Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 my wife met her first husband when she was 17 and he was 29. They were very much in love. He got her pregnant and then they married. He died 5 years later, making her a 23 year old widow with a 5 year old boy. It's been 18 years since his death, I am sure they would still be together today had he lived.
