supermom Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 Are diet pills safe? Are there any that are safer? Also, is it safe to take diet pills while on meds? I take symbyax for bipolar and it makes me gain weight, as I did 5lbs in 2wks, doctor said it wasn't good. I'm also lazy when it comes to excersize. Please offer advise
meanon Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 You need to check out what's in the pills and run it past your doc. If your med contains a MAOI then there is a specific warning of dietary interactions. Have you been given advice about what foods to avoid? If not then ask when you next go and go straight away if you get a throbbing headache. It is healthier to do it the hard way, a pain I know. Once your condition has stabilised you may want to explore switching meds if the problem continues.
Lainie Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 Hi, I don't know about diet pills and medication. I would suggest you either go to a pharmacy or doctor to ask. Some combinations of prescription drugs can make you very sick and have severe side effects, so be very careful.
