Would you date someone who had exactly the same personality as you?

If you had the opportunity to date someone who was guaranteed to have exactly the same personality as you, would you?

Would you prefer to date someone with the same / a very similar personality? Or would you prefer to date someone with a contrasting personality? Would your response vary for different personality components? Or is personality not so important to you?

Why? Why not?

I think my current bf is a MUCH better match for me than my previous bf, because although we do have similar personalities in many respects, his innate placidity has a calming effect on my natural predisposition to anxiety I think. :o

Just wondering what other people's experiences and thoughts are when it comes to similarity / compatibility of personalities in relationships? :)

Not sure. Well...no. I would like for there to be something different. For example, I not very spontaneous and mostly a homebody. So being with someone who is spontaneous would challenge me to grow.

i so like the questions which have no real chance or happening and not real....

Thought about it, i have come down to either "yes" or "no", cant decide, ooo will my life continue till i find an answer....

So the other question that will never happen ive been deciding on for weeks "if i win the lottery, do i take all the money or in little bits", again another "yes" or "no", just cant decide on that one either.

Interesting question....I think we're all much of a muchness but with a few differences that we tend to notice more than the many similarities we share. As such, most things between myself and my partner will be similar with a few differences to add a bit of spice to the mix. Topping the list of differences in my world often being having a partner with an outgoing personality to counter my naturally reserved nature for example. Have noticed that two reserved souls - two quiet people doesn't gel at all whereas a quiet soul and a blabbermouth go together just fine.

I like a balance of where are personalities are similar enough so as not to repell each other, but different enough to have that yen and yang.

I can be uptight and worry about things a lot and its always nice when I meet a guy, who like you said, has a more calm, centered approach to life.

For the most part yes but a woman who was like the old me I would probably run far away from. I understand that is hypocritical.

I honestly don't know how my personality comes across from outside perspective...only my own perspective.

So I don't know. I'd probably try it, only to discover how much I hate myself.

Interesting question. :o Probably not. I like having enough similarities, in values, mindset etc to be compatible... but 'exactly the same' would mean having exactly the same flaws, too. So instead of being able to syngergize, compromise, and compensate for each others' weaknesses, we'd have two people who are weak in exactly the same areas! Horrible thought. Given that I'm prone to OCD, we'd drive each other bananas, just like how my mom and I do.

I don't know but the sex would be amazing.
