Ca1amityJayne Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 just a few words for those of you in LDRs.... they can be successful depending on your level of trust, commitment and love. we're nearing the end of our wait, which was due to my having children from previous relationship and my commitment to their upbringing and their ability to be able to see their father whenever they felt like it... while divorce is hard on children, i do believe i gave them the best possible chance in that their father and I made a concerted effort to make sure they were never pulled in either direction and we committed to stay within the same area so that the children were able to be where they wanted to be. I held christmas, easter and thanksgiving celebrations which included his family, his new partner and of course myself and the boys... Next year my youngest graduates from highschool and will head out to live his own life..at that point, i will (with their blessings) pack up and move to begin my new life with my totally devoted and supportive partner.. Life is only as complicated or as easy as you make it...keep the faith.. cheers! 2
LittleTiger Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Are you saying that you've been in a LDR for 12 years?
Author Ca1amityJayne Posted May 26, 2013 Author Posted May 26, 2013 yes i have been...over 3000 miles...
LittleTiger Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Wow! 12 Years!!!!!!!!!! We're on 3 1/2 and expecting to close the distance within the next 18 months - 12,000 miles apart when we started, now 10,500. We'll wait however long it takes, but 12 years???!!! Jeez!!!! How often did you get to see each other during that time - and for how long each time?
Author Ca1amityJayne Posted May 26, 2013 Author Posted May 26, 2013 we aimed for at least every 3-4 months, for at least two weeks....however due to life and circumstance, we sometimes went 6-8 mos and our visits ranged from a quick 1 week to a month in the summers when I would bring the boys out for summer vacation... congratulations on your relationship!...I hope your next 18 mos goes by very quickly..

We always intended to see each other every 3-4 months too.....and due to life and circumstances we spent 11 months apart last year! It was a nightmare not being able to touch one another in all that time, but we made it through and now we're stronger than ever. Thanks for the good wishes and congratulations to you too! I can't imagine being away from my guy for another 8 or 9 years. All credit to both of you - that's quite some staying power. I wish you both every happiness when you finally get to be together full time. 2

ThankYOU for your kind wishes...I'm sure an LDR isn't anything anyone chooses over a relationship more convenient, but, when you find that special someone, distance is not a factor and your days are best spent one at a time...
