TigerCub Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 I love this song... (I see it as a pick me up inspiring/empowering kinda song) "Before He Cheats" by Carrie Underwood. Right now he's probably slow dancing with a bleached-blond tramp, and she's probably getting frisky... right now, he's probably buying her some fruity little drink 'cause she can't shoot whiskey... Right now, he's probably up behind her with a pool stick, showing her how to shoot a combo... And he don't know... That I dug my key into the side of his pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive, carved my name into his leather seats... I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights, slashed a hole in all 4 tires... Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats. Right now, she's probably up singing some white-trash version of Shania karaoke. Right now, she's probably saying, "I'm drunk" and he's a-thinking that he's gonna get lucky, Right now, he's probably dabbing on 3 dollars worth of that bathroom Polo*... Oh, and he don't know... That I dug my key into the side of his pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive, carved my name into his leather seats, I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights, slashed a hole in all 4 tires... Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats. I might've saved a little trouble for the next girl, 'cause the next time that he cheats... Oh, you know it won't be on me! No... not on me 'Cause I dug my key into the side of his pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive, carved my name into his leather seats... I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights, slashed a hole in all 4 tires... Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats. Oh, maybe next time he'll think before he cheats... Oh, before he cheats... oh, oh. 2

These types of songs are empowering...the kind that, when I am triggering or just feeling a little crazy about it all, I can turn on my Ipod, listen, and direct the anger at a punching bag instead of verbally attacking my fwh... Thank you so much for sharing! 1
leonine Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 "That Wasn't Me" by Brandi Carlile resonated with me as a reconciling, fWW. Hang on, just hang on for a minute I've got something to say I'm not asking you to move on or forget it But these are better days To be wrong all along and admit is not amazing grace But to be loved like a song you remember Even when you've changed Tell me did I go on a tangent? Did I lie through my teeth? Did I cause you to stumble on your feet? Did I bring shame on my family? Did it show when I was weak? Whatever you see, that wasn't me That wasn't me, that wasn't me When you're lost you will toss every lucky coin you'll ever trust And you will hide from every god like he never turns his back on us And you will fall all the way to the bottom and fall on your own knife But you'll learn who you are even if it doesn't take your life Tell me did I go on a tangent? Did I lie through my teeth? Did I cause you to stumble on your feet? Did I bring shame on my family? Did it show when I was weak? Whatever you see, that wasn't me That wasn't me, that wasn't me But I want you to know that you'll never alone I wanna believe do I make myself a blessing to everyone I meet When you fall I will get you on your feet Do I spend time with my family? Did it show when I was weak? When that's what you see, that will be me That will be me, that will be me That will be me 1

Did it show when I was weak? When that's what you see, that will be me That will be me, that will be me That will be me I am sure that song brings out some strong emotions for you. I saw the pain my fwh experienced when the A was brought to light...the fear of losing his family...not being able to eat and being physically ill. I imagine a truly repentant ws feels pain and shock all of theor own...and when that A all comes crashing down...and when they never wanted to leave the bs and are faced with what they have done... That cant be a good day. This song has strong words...falling on your own knife, for example, really speaks to me of the choice you made, your tool and weapon, and you harmed yourself. Thank you so much for sharing this. It is late now, but I am going to look it up tomorrow to hear it.
Author krazikat Posted May 28, 2013 Author Posted May 28, 2013 :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:what about that old country song "take this job and shove it" ( job being the wife/husband of someone who cheated):laugh::laugh: ( side note: i heard that song once when i was really little and my mom got after me for singing it) I have not heard that song, but I will be looking it up... I have not heard that one...but will check it out tomorrow. She has a beautiful voice...and I think that having a nice range of emotions in the bs playlist is good...i still have my dark moments here and there and music is soothing when it fits your mood, even if dark.

therhythm Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Well, when I was getting over my gf cheating on me I listen almost daily "Every Lie" by My darkest days. "Every Lie" So where did you sleep the night before I doubt that your phone was dying I'm supposed to believe that was what you wore Said you were alone, I don't buy it Now I can't stay Surrounded by Every lie that won't come true Now you wanna take the time But why would you Think you're gonna make it right But how could you So I can't stay (surrounded) Surrounded by (surrounded by) Every lie You might as well just stop crying It doesn't mean much to me anymore A little too late to start trying I'm taking this love of the life support Now I can't stay Surrounded by Every lie that won't come true Now you wanna take the time But why would you Think you're gonna make it right But how could you So I can't stay (surrounded) Surrounded by (surrounded by) Every lie Every lie that won't come true Now you wanna take the time But why would you Think you're gonna make it right But how could you 1

When you find out about the affair and realize all the lies you cant help but wonder...what was true? When your ws (or ww so) has been holding you, loving you, acting like all is good and you have all of their heart, promising they are dedicated to you and only you...and then find out that was a lie...oh my. The pain of a bs who has dedicated years of their lives, married, built a life with, dreamed with, cried with a person who lied so blatantly...it is devastating. It cannot be compared to what the ap, who knowing signed up for the A, is going thru on dday. The element of surprise feels like falling. Surrounded by lies. Thank you for sharing. 1

therhythm Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I am not particularly found of country music but this song really hit directly into my heart DARYLE SINGLETARY - I LET HER LIE LYRICS She'd come home, 6 a.m. Tells me she'd been out with friends And I let her lie I let her lie And in the glare of the morning sun She swore I was her only one And I let her lie I let her lie 'Cause the truth was too hard to handle And I couldn't bare to lose that girl We were that small town scandal but She was my only world One teary night she confessed her sins But she vowed to never cheat again And I let her lie I let her lie Though she tried Lord, she could not change And I only have myself to blame 'Cause I let her lie I let her lie 'Cause the truth was too hard to handle And I couldn't bare to lose that girl We were that small town scandal but She was my only world The day I left no words were said She was sound asleep on our double bed And I let her lie I let her lie I let her lie I let her lie 1
Madman81 Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I took a different path 9-10 years ago when my marriage ended after revelations of XW's actions. The music I favoured was loud and angry (Rage Against The Machine, Guns N' Roses, stuff like that). It was amazing how good that made me feel. I've said many times since then that anger feels a lot better than sadness. Sadness makes you want to curl up in a corner and die. Anger gets your heart pumping and makes you want to DO something, rather than just getting dragged under. For me, I channeled the anger into workouts. Half an hour to an hour at the gym, listening to loud angry music, was the best therapy a lot of the time. 3

Anger gets your heart pumping and makes you want to DO something, rather than just getting dragged under. For me, I channeled the anger into workouts. Half an hour to an hour at the gym, listening to loud angry music, was the best therapy a lot of the time. I agree with you...sad love songs aren't always the best thing...and I do find much value in turning up the angry music and getting a great workout....my gave when I am in such a mood is kickboxing OR boxing, even of it is just tae bo style Plus the added benefits of exercise...feeling and looking better...all around excellent therapy! 1
