I worked on a project with this girl for about a month at work. Towards the end we got to know each other a bit and after it ended (for me) I texted her that I would like to take her out for drinks.

She said yes. This was about 3 weeks ago.

Since then I tried to make plans with her for last week but she said she had to work. I tried to make plans with her for this week and she suggested Thursday night.

Last night she sends this long text about having to work late today and in a later text that if it changed she would buzz me.

From my experience typical blowoffs are short and sweet so I don't know what to make of this. I told her that its no problem, maybe we can get together another time. My gut tells me to now not text her anymore and let her contact me since she already knows I want to meet her.

Since the project ended all our interactions have been via text, and she does not initiate.

So what to do? Give it up?

I would say " well if you ever want to get together for a drink let me know" boom. done. thats it. Ball in her court. You did what you could. If she never reaches out you got you're answer. Stop texting her.

Yeah I was thinking of doing just that if I don't hear from her today.

I was also thinking of calling her this weekend. Since it was three weeks since we were together- I was thinking that speaking might help keep the rapport going that we had before. Texting can be so impersonal.

At the same time calling might make me seem a bit too needy and I probably should just leave the ball in her court.
