School: I went from about 9-4, M-F.

Work: I, like most service staff in the restaurant/bar industry (both FOH and BOH), worked Friday and Saturday nights. I also worked two other nights during the week. That left 3 nights free for dates, which was not unlike my current dating schedule, which allows me only 3-4 nights a week to date given other commitments I have at night.

That's not nearly what I had in mind. I was thinking something like Monday through Sunday 9 am -10 pm (or even just Monday through Saturday).

I think we were thinking of two different things. I could handle something like what you just outlined.

But, we'll see what happens.

If it was two jobs, it would be something like 9am-10pm, 4 days a week. 9am-4pm the other 3. Totally doable, IMO.

That said, I still think you could do it with just one.

Shoot, you could do it with just one, living on unemployment.

And no, I'm not joining the military. There was some wise a** who said that to me not all that long ago...

Why not?..........

Work in a gay bar.

...and I'm not even joking.

Again, and....?

It's about priorities and choices.

Live at home, share a room with your bro, remain dateless and celibate and complaining...

...or be a cool dude confident to live on your own, and able to draw the ladies back to your ghetto lair?

Really?

I don't know which is worst: living with your parents or bringing women back to some glorified trash dump while being independant?

Oh come on. Anyone who wants to make excuses based on their gender can find some. Working nights is more dangerous for women. Women are less likely to be hired for jobs requiring manual labor and strength. Personal maintenance costs more for women. Grooming takes more time. And on and on and on...

Not sure how you believe any of your comments are helping.

Okay then, die a virgin, or lonely and without love, all because you'd rather live safely at home in a room with your brother. No skin off my back! Just tryin' to help a dude out.

Well, I'm going to die a virgin regardless. Just hopefully an independent one.

I appreciate your help though. Just know it's not going to help me get laid. That ship has already sailed a long time ago...

No offense, it's just not something I believe in any way, shape or form.

I roll my eyes when they play the national anthem at baseball games.

It's not an anti-American thing either, I wouldn't serve in any military of any nation on this earth. Under any circumstances...

If I had to choose, I'd much prefer the guy that lives in the Tenderloin in a small studio, than a guy sharing a room with his brother in mansion in Pacific Heights.

I've never kissed a girl, how do you propose that I get a live-in girlfriend?

Which is ultimately what happened with me back in college. My BFF moved out and moved in with her then-BF, and my then-BF moved in with me.

And we all had the same situation: part time jobs, full time school.

Like you said, one-step at a time.

First step being: get out of your parents' house, or at least get your own room!

Well, I sleep on the floor while my baby brother sleeps on a bed.

So yeah.....

Am I cool with that? You can say that. It's not like I'm happy in this situation so sleeping on the floor is only par for the course.

What if I live under the stars with a song in my heart?

But that's not the situation. Living in your parents' house, sharing a room with your brother. That's the hypothetical (and reality for 49) that's on the table.

If 49 is going back to school they suggest you only work 20 hours a week. That's what they were telling us a year ago at a Uni I was at. Someone did a study and they found grades plummeted every hour worked over 20 but students with a job that was 20 hours and under were more successful.

3.97 GPA here. Not perfect, but not exactly sucking either.

With the ND oil boom all the ancillary jobs need to be filled to support the new population. There's a shortage of strippers and escorts for one...

I mean, no, an adult male living with his parents won't do. I came in this country alone at 27 with one suitcase crying all the way across the ocean, rode a bike everywhere for 2 years, and lived in the same house with 11 other people for one year, then took it down to 5 other people for 2 more years. Went to school, had a baby in that house. Finally moved into a 550sqft apartment with my husband, baby, and mother in law, which was a luxury. If you have ambition, you can better yourself. Took me seven years to get a really great job, career, house. If an immigrant can do it ,you can do it too. Not easy.

How old are you?

25. I feel and look 40 though. Why do you ask? Am I too young, or too old?

My happiest times were when I was a starving artist living above a Chinese restaurant, yah, really bad but life was so much simpler then. When I met my ex wife I changed my life so I could give her the things that were important to her. She cheated on me within the first three months of our marriage, two guys from Montreal, her boss and a pilot. She was impressed by people that had wealth, I was only starting off. I sold my soul for her. I haven't heard from her in twenty plus years and then I get a friend request from her on facebook(like an idiot I accepted). That was 11 months ago, now all she does is send me messages about how I should help her out, that I have it so good, that I must own her some kind of alimony. Go for the love, be wary of the one's that focus mainly on their looks.

Well, that's a problem. I don't have much ambition anymore...

Might as well advise me to buy lotto tickets as a career. About the same odds of success...
