I was going to limit this to women but feel that men may have their stories as well. A friend of mine recently cut her hair and while it looks good, men seem to like it less than than before.

A good hairstyle on a guy can boost his looks ratings up a few IMO and in my experience. Ever since i've changed mine and also dressed better, i've gotten more looks, compliments from family/friends.

Generally I get more attention the week I get the hair cut low and then the few weeks after. Regarding women - I have to say I love long hair on a woman. I've known women who look great with shorter hair (I met a girl once who had the Amber Rose cut and she looked good) but generally I love long hair. Straight hair is nice, but curly or wavy hair I love .
Feelin Frisky Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Hair is good. I like it just long enough so that it can be put up in different ways. It shouldn't be so long it's heavy. Livelier curly hair is preferable to fine strait hair. I don't like wearing my own hair long. I used to as a teen and young twenty something, but now it just makes me hot and blows the wrong way when I go out and looks like crap unless I keep brushing. So, short it is. I will be getting clipped tomorrow when the good chick is there. Her name is Jo. Jo the barber (lady). She always gets it right.

I used to have a bf - my first bf - who was a lot more attractive with longer hair, even though he was a professional. The next guy didn't have a lot of hair - but I totally had the hots for him... seven years later, he'd lost a lot of his hair... but I was still crazy about the guy. my main take out - hair doesn't really matter, it's the bigger package that counts - personality, in my case. I think I would be a tad intimidated if my date had prettier hair than mine, though...

When I had longer hair all the girls who were from the 80s generation (typically, 40+ year old ladies) told me how awesome it was and all the younger girls said I looked homeless. So for women I think it is all about whatever is popular in their eyes and right now the short hair look seems to be 'in'. For men it's biological; most of us like long, beautiful hair on our women. edit: initial impression? I don't know, not much really. While I like women with really long hair there is so much more to the package than just hair, at least for me.

I noticed one day that I was in a store and the guy who was helping me was polite and normal but wasn't particularly interested in me. I left and came back to the same store about 2 hours later to return the item I bought. The same guy was helping me and was very taken with me and was smiling and being flirtatious. I was like wow...he was not like that at all before.I had not changed clothes or done anything different, EXCEPT, before my hair was pulled back in a bun, and this time when I came back I had taken down the bun and my hair was out. From that I deduced a lot of men will take more notice of longer hair .

And unless her body is in the "Beauty Queen" class, or she's showing a lot of skin, I tend to start evaluating a woman I know nothing about by looking at her hair.

I'm not usually attracted to a woman who has really short hair, as few women can really pull it off, or to girls with long hair who always have it pulled back or put up. I find that longer hair frames a woman's face and softens her appearance in general. I've noticed that many women with short hair tend to look harsher and less feminine, if that makes any sense. They aren't, of course, they just look that way sometimes.

On men I'm generally not that into long hair, but if I get to know someone and like them, stuff like that just becomes transparent. It doesn't matter.

BoneyHadger Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Several days ago I have seen a woman who had hair hardly any longer than I did (and I don't have long hair by guys' standards), and thought she looks totally hot in those. Some can pull it off and still look very feminine.
crederer Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 You can't cookie cutter the approach. Some look better with long, some look better with short. I find, in general, I like long hair on a woman. But i've seen plenty with short that are quite nice too!

Short hair does work on women and I wouldn't say no, just my personal preference. I have very short hair (grade 1 or 2 haircuts is the norm for me,) and I keep getting told that I look better with longer hair but I can't stick it, I hate it. I guess its because I'm a male with natural light blonde hair and I suppose its rare.

will1988 Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I prefer long hair. However, my fiance has only had long hair for a few months of our relationship. She has a roundish face with high cheek bones and kind of a birdish type nose and cat shaped eyes. She looked kind of like a gypsie or something with her long dark hair. However, that was short lived and she cut her hair again. She is a hairstylist and is alwasy trying new looks. When we first met she had shortish wavy pink hair, then red, purple, blue, green etc... for the first year, then went to more normal colors as she tried growing it out, then when she didn't like it grown out she cut it. now she has been keeping it ear lobe / top of the jaw length, wavy, with different dark colors. She looks really good with the very dark purple / black hair color. She has snow white skin, so with the dark short hair she looks like a vampire or something. lol. Which I find hot. She looks better with short hair than she does with long hair. Generally I prefer girls with long hair, but if you look good with short hair I couldn't care less... if you'r hot I don't care if you have hair to your lower back or have a pixie cut... as long as you look good with it.
