If you're dating someone new, what financial issues might be a red flag? I know times are still tough for people so I'm not going to judge. But when is it too much?

if hes always loosing 1-2 million on investments, i would say he might be someone to steer clear of, will mean bad cars and houses that always need work

One guy told me a few weeks in that he had recently filed for bankruptcy. His phone rang off the hook from collection agencies. I get that sometimes bk is the "best" option, but in his case - he continued to make poor financial decisions (buying a new gadget instead of medication for his pets, etc) and it was one of the factors in my decision to stop seeing him.

In the US at least, once he files bankruptcy the calls should cease by law, even before the case is settled.

Bankruptcy itself isn't such a bad thing if the behavior or problem is solved. It essentially means having zero debt which is better than many people out there.

If someone has a lot of debt it is a huge red flag. If you are looking to settle down with someone, avoid this scenario.
