Nicholass Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Recently was broken up with by my girlfriend and I was\am deeply in love with this girl. I've been taking the breakup relatively well. She still wants to be friends, but I told her I wasn't going to be able to do that until I get over her. But after this she texts me and says that she's sorry and she hates not having me in her life and she feels as if her life isn't complete without me in it. Yet she talks to a new guy and doesn't want me back. What does this mean?
ThatJustHappened Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 It means she wants to have her cake and eat it too. She doesn't want to be with you, but she doesn't want anyone else to have you either. She wants to keep leading you around like a puppy on a leash. 1
316 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 It means she wants you in her life still but only as a FRIEND.
BC1980 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 My situation is nearly the same, so I hear where you are coming from. I went NC, and my ex texted me within 2 dys. He wants to have his cake and eat it too.

That actually makes a lot of sense, but she told me that I should talk to others girls, yet she still says that she loves me.
Own Worst Enemy Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Of course she wants you in her life. It's easy and it's comforting and she knows you adore her and do nice things for her. Whereas she has ploughed your happiness and self-esteem into the ground (hopefully temporarily!) by dumping you. You don't need that reminder around. Second reason: if you will be friends with her, she can't be that bad. She hasn't done a bad thing. She hasn't broken your heart. Otherwise you wouldn't still hang around with her, right? So yeah. It's all about her. For you, answer this one question: can you imagine her with someone else? If not, get out of there now! 1

I hate seeing her with someone else but i can deal with it, her and the guy started texting and doing all the flirting even when we still went out.. Does she even deserve for me to be her friend?

Tree_Salmon Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 it means that she dumped you and doesn't want to be with you because she wants to bang this new guy she met. however she enjoys your friendship, and would love for you to be her friend while she goes out and bangs other guys. I have to add that she will be nicer to you if there's nobody around to bang, and there's a small chance she will let you bang her again...if she feels like it. Enjoy

Does she even deserve for me to be her friend? There is rarely "friends" with an ex you love deeply. It's a dependency you still have for having her around. And shes just keeping you as an emotional backup until shes waaaaaaay over you. But look at the bright side, you can sit in a corner table at her wedding and talk to her old friends. That should be fun. 1
