Is role playing banter?

I recently read somewhere that you should use banter when you are first talking to a woman. I really don't like bantering with women, but when I do it women really like it. I know it has to be content free, but I wonder if role playing can be banter. For example, I like to joke with women that I know what they secretly do for a job and I would say " your a race car driver". Then I would go on describing the kind of race car driver they are. Is this banter or am I just going over the top?

But why feel embarrassed if it works and ladies seem to like it?
