na49 Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 So with the summer starting, and my girlfriend living 40+ minutes away (instead of 15 minutes when she's on campus) Situations with the both of us keep us from seeing each other as much as we'd like to, and we just had a discussion about how it will be different during the summer. We're both stressing and feeling depressed as hell about the fact we won't be able to see each other. I guess I'm venting, but how do you people who have SOs in other states deal with this? I feel like I'll be dreading the summer because of this and so will she. We had this same issue last summer, but this summer it just feels so much worse I guess now that we are more "attached" than we were. My summer has just started and I already want to go back to school.

HeavenOrHell Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 It's situations stopping you from seeing each other, not distance, you're not in an LDR. My partner lives in another country, has done for 3 years, only see him every other month, if that. Why can't you see her over summer? A 40 minute bus trip doesn't cost much surely? Author na49 Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 I guess it's more the fact that we aren't able to see each other as much as we do when we're in school that makes me feel like it's a LDR. I could look up bus schedules and whatnot I guess, and I will see her during the summer, but I want to see her close to every day like I used to and now I won't. :/ I feel for all of you guys with SOs in other countries, states, and planets. I'm curious, how long have you been with them and how often do you see them? How do you cope with it?

Author na49 Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 I'd imagine. So how often do you see your SO? What's getting me down is I don't know the next time I'm seeing her for certain. I'm sure within the next few weeks we will hang out but I'm so used to knowing exactly when I'll be seeing her next and this uncertainty is killing me because I can't look forward to it.
umirano Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 I'd imagine. So how often do you see your SO? Like 4-5 times a year for a week or two. What's getting me down is I don't know the next time I'm seeing her for certain. Then make it certain. Set a date when you meet. I'm sure you guys have calendars and can plan ahead a few weeks??? My SO lives about 3000 km / 4hr plane ride away. So my sympathy for you guys is limited...
Author na49 Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 That's brutal, and I know I'm exaggerating my own situation. Like I said, I only feel like it's a LDR because she isn't 15 minutes away anymore and I won't be seeing her every day or close to it because of our situation. We obviously talk all the time whether we are seeing each other every day or not. We video chat before we go to sleep, etc. Sometimes the distance hits me harder than other times. Like right now I'm feeling fine about it because I know I'll see her some time this month, just not sure when exactly. Oh well, I dealt with it last summer, I'll deal with it this summer.
Author na49 Posted May 16, 2013 Author Posted May 16, 2013 Well, the not being together all the time, is bothering us again. She wants to see me close to every weekend and it just can't happen due to our schedules/random crap coming up. So her being pissed off is making me pissed off. It worries me a bit, I start to think "If she finds someone closer, will I be thrown away?" Me not always being around already burned me once. Just venting a bit. It's been a tough morning as is.
cavalier99 Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Dude she is only 40 minute away. You can hop in your car and see her anytime at a moments notice. You both just need to be felxible and spur of the moment sometimes.
