jjuulliiee Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 When you hear somebody say that a person is well rounded, what do you think of? Hubby and I got into a dispute in the grocery store parking lot. Neither of us actually made it into the store, but that's another issue. Anyway, what we were "debating" about what some talk show host was making noise about on the radio. A woman called in and was talking about the whole finding weapons of mass destruction in Iraq...or there lack of. This particular radio is host is repubican for the most part, but a wishy washy one at best. He gets all bent out of shape because this woman dared to question Bush's intentions ect... The arguement between the other half and I starts because I loudly announced that this guy has his lips firmly pressed on Bush's ass this evening. This prompts the other half to get all mad and he starts carrying on about how they got word from Germany, Russia and France about these weapons... blah, blah, blah. This then turns into a fight about the media. I don't like the media. Anybody that knows me knows I don't like the media. I like people of the media even less when they are wishy washy like the bozo I mentioned above. Hubby then starts with how he reads and listens to all different views on things, and draws a conclusion somewhere in the middle of two or more points of view. BUT... he apparently doesn't listen to himself talk as he went on to say that he only follows certain newspaper writers, and only listens to certain people on the news, and radio. Just how exactly is that being "well rounded"? If I only listened to certain people, my views would be slanted to agree or kindly disagree with the people I follow. Needless to say, when I mentioned that lack of "well roundedness' going on with his ways of keeping tabs on things, I was basically told to shut up in a very casual way. He goes into the livingroom and hasn't said a word to me since. My point of the media failing to mention these countries connections with China of course went ignored as it's taboo I guess which is what made me mad with this bonehead in the first place. Excuse me, but China has favorite nation status in this country, but yet they are Communist, want to blow the U.S. off the face of the globe and the fact that France, Russia and Germany have "business" with China is never mentioned. I think that if people are going to get their undies in a bunch, they should alteast put all the cards on the table, not just the ones that try to make Bush or whomever look better. If a person is going to be "well rounded" IMO, you have to accept the taboo issues as well. The media has mastered sweeping such things under the rug. Well, except for Dan Rather. He shows nothing but true professionalism....*cough* Not defending Bush with that, but Dan has hit yet another all time low with his recent stunt and it wasn't the first time he's done that.
CurlyIam Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 Girl, no Bush and Kerry and Iraq and China on the face of the Earth desirve you have a fight with your hubby over. That is politics, none of you two can actually change it, so try and keep it rational. You seem to have your head prety much on your shoulders. I suggest you try to avoid listenining to political radio talk shows together, especially since you know you have opposite pov on the matter. This way you can have all the groceries bought and a nice happy hubby on aside ! (At least try to avoid it, I know election times get closer and closer in the US). Or declare a period of non aggresion like from 5 am to 7am, when you can talk, shop, kiss and make up. After 7, the ostilities are in order... or something like that!
