c57dood Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I'm a 30 year old single guy, and now I'm starting to see so many married couples getting divorced. Seems like people change from their 20's to their 30's, and they want different things or see things differently than when they first got together. It's funny in a way, people who are single want to be in a relationship, and many people who are in a relationship want to be single. I've been thinking maybe we're really in the "Brave New World". I don't know if people have read that book, but there's many parallels with the premise in that book and today's attitude towards relationships. Our modern society moves so quickly, and both men and women have so many more options than they did in the past. I think it has a lot to do with the internet as well as the variety of different races people interact with that makes them curious and never satisfied with what they have. What do you think?

I agree with you. It's a good era for hooking up, but a bad era for settling down.
HoneyBadgerDontCare Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 70% of the divorces are initiated by women. If you look at some of the posts in divorced section you will see, she says she never loved me. That's a big blow to anyone. I'm 44, haven't dated in 13 years. No fighting, no blaming me that I'm the *******. Saved a pile load of money and grief. If I was to date again it will be only with women that are 40+. They are naturally better women to date. I didn't want to get into this. But YESSSSSS! So true! There is absolutely no benefit for a man to get married these days.
HoneyBadgerDontCare Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 70% of divorces are intiated by women because men are more likely to be content in a bad relationship or stay in it while messing around on the side. Also, fear of financial ruin prevents some men from initiating. I dont really think that statistic is relevant. Men are just mad nowadays women arent as willing to cater to their selfish ways...its a side effect of feminism. There are def. some women who are very selfish too though. Nonetheless, Ill be picky about the girl I choose to marry. Not true. Women are more likely to jump ship to something bigger and better while the man tries to work it out. Then the guy loses his kids and all of his money. There's a 50% chance of that happening to any man that gets married. Sounds like a solid deal to me.
Author c57dood Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 I don't know if anyone is into psychology, but Carl Jung has written some interesting works about something called Anima and animus:Anima and animus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Basically, there are 4 stages of the feminine aspect. The first would be "Eve", or simply women as an object of men's desire. Next comes "Helen", where women are seen to be self reliant, intelligent, and capable of worldly success although lacking an internal ability to be virtuous or faithful. This appears to be the present stage women are by perceiving males. The next stage is "Mary", where she is internally and externally virtuous and unclean acts cannot be associated with her. The final stage is "Sophia", where women are wise and in a sense divine, totally separate from corruption and a teacher to man. The masculine stages follow a similar path, except man starts out as purely physical brute in his first stage, and transforms into a completely spiritual being. Thoughts?
BluEyeL Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Feminism at it's best: I saw that crap. On topic, being single certainly has certain major advantages for both genders, IF the person is financially stable, i.e. if they can AFFORD to be single. However, I don't think I personally want to stay single, I'd give up the advantages for a really good relationship. A really good one.

I STRONGLY disagree.

Author c57dood Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 My thoughts? I STRONGLY disagree. Haha at least say why you disagree!
BluEyeL Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I'd say this is an accurate depiction of the feminist movement: oppress men at all costs. That's not true, that woman is just insane. Feminism has many nuances. I find militants in general, for any cause, a bit deranged anyway.
Author c57dood Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 Wikipedia is a poor source for information. Not always accurate. If you're going to use for debate I highly suggest better source. Well forget the source, what do you think about the premise?
Woggle Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Feminism at it's best: Do they not realize they are hurting their own cause? I don't know what this guy is saying but they look like a bunch of wack jobs trying to block the entrance instead of letting him speak. I am sure they have said things that are considered hate speech.

Author c57dood Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 Men are selfish? LOL Even women are standing up to the hypocrisy of feminism Even women are standing up to the hypocrisy of feminism - YouTube I'm sorry, but you think Jenna Marbles is a better source than wikipedia
HoneyBadgerDontCare Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Men are selfish? LOL Even women are standing up to the hypocrisy of feminism Even women are standing up to the hypocrisy of feminism - YouTube WOW! A woman actually gets it? No....no....that can't be true.
Author c57dood Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 It's not a source, it's a person's opinion. Yours stating as facts. Do you know the difference? No, I never said it was fact. It's just an idea being presented about masculine/feminine dynamics. All I asked was to explain why you disagree. That girl's opinions are too laced with profanities it greatly detracts from any valid points she has unfortunately.
Woggle Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I don't have an issue with feminists in general but the kind in that video do more damage to the movement than the worst male chauvinists. That kind of stuff turns off most rational people and makes it much harder for the feminists who actually are trying to tackle real issues to not get lost in the noise.
apple OR orange Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Most women i have seen quote items like "i never loved you" are normally the ones who want personal gain so will take the whole house as they need to bring the kids up. I remember one person sitting there and said "no, the house gets sold, we get half each. After the lawyers argued this the guy said "i didnt force you to marry me, you choose that, are you saying you used me all these years, or would you prefer you dont go there otherwise i will take the whole house". The outcome was the house was sold and money 50/50 so she lost and he gained. The grass will always be greener, people will always want out of marriage, however those not with a woman will always want sex so you cant win.
Keenly Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 dating men is a waste of time. they only care about themselves and only think of girls as a means to an end not a person like them. men are more selfish and i feel bad for women that waste time on men. Sucks to be you then, because my company can be quite worthwhile.
