Smokemirrors Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I feel like I want to see a therapist. I feel like I need some help to get out of this slump. What experience do people have with therapists? Are they useful?
maturityassets Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 They help you learn about yourself and become self sufficient. I saw therapy before my relationship due to my anxiety. I had a lot of emotional problems that stemmed from me being ashamed of my anxiety. I got over that shame and when R came along she taught me that I could be loved. Now at therapy, I focus on being self sufficient. I don't need a phone call from R to calm me down after a long day at school or working on stuff. It'll make you happy that you can understand yourself and be self sufficient. Doesn't mean you won't wish you were with the ex anymore. Just that you could survive with out them
amaysngrace Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I've been in and out of counseling for a lot of years. I've seen a few different ones over time for different reasons but with their help and my willingness to get better I have healed from a lot of trauma that I would otherwise still be dealing with. Yes. They are useful.
