jeni4566 Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I'm having lunch with someone I met in a professional setting. What can I do to make him want to date me without coming across as being easy? He's kinda of like my mentor, but only a few years older than me.
Keenly Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 it wont happen, move on Your feeling mighty helpful today aren't you. Just throw something out there and see if he takes it, a random compliment. 1
Author jeni4566 Posted May 5, 2013 Author Posted May 5, 2013 Thanks for the quick responses and great questions. FYI, we don't work in the same company, but we work in the same field. I think (imagined?) he likes me too. He suggested meeting for lunch, so he can help me more. I wonder if he never asked me out on a date, because he wasn't sure I was interested.
BluEyeL Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 It's a good idea to pay him one or two compliments to indicate that you are interested, but if that won't work, there is nothing you can do. You cannot make anyone date you unless they want to and the worst thing you could do is to be too persistent. 1
apple OR orange Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Your feeling mighty helpful today aren't you. Not one to pansy around a subject, if 8 words will work and get to the point instead of 4 complete sentences, 8 words it is.
edgygirl Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I agree with BluEyeL - flirt and if nothing comes out of it, forget about making someone want to do something. I finally learned after decades that if a guy IS interested, he is the one who should and will do anything to date you, see you and be with you - working in the same company / field and whatnot. If he's not doing anything after you flirt, you DO NOT want to be his consolation prize. Look for someone new - not worth the trouble. 1
