Country_Girl Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 So, I was wondering, if what I did was wrong. I don't really have friends that like to hike, so I posted an ad on Craigslist looking for hiking buddies and asked they include a little about themselves and a pic, and I would reply with pic (interests were included in ad). I mean, all I wanted to do was put a face to a name, and you know I'm not one to judge a book by it's cover, but it's Craigslist after all. I don't want to be 'surprised' to meet a 400 lb dude that can't keep up. I didn't put that in the ad, btw. But I just wanted to weed out the stoners (there's a lot of that here in CO) and you know, people that might look threatening. I'm a girl, and I get along better with guys, so it was posted in the platonic section. Well, this simple posting generated all kinds of hate mail, I've been called: self entitled, whore, pic collector, you name it. Was it wrong for me to ask for a pic?
2sure Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Whoa. Apparently so. I get your intent though and it's reasonable. Craigslist is sooo random and dicey. I think you better look at meet up groups. 1

Posting a hiking ad on craigslist? Are you blond? Find a forum that deals with hiking/outdoors stuff and find out when the meetups are.
Disillusioned Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Hopefully you learned something. CLers wouldn't last one minute in meetup groups.
Lich1 Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 But I just wanted to weed out the stoners LOL. I don't think the response was proportionate to your post, but I don't frequent CL except for jobs. $0.02

Well if you want a decent good looking single guy to hike with I'm here, I live in central Florida though don't know where you are.
