So, I was wondering, if what I did was wrong. I don't really have friends that like to hike, so I posted an ad on Craigslist looking for hiking buddies and asked they include a little about themselves and a pic, and I would reply with pic (interests were included in ad).

I mean, all I wanted to do was put a face to a name, and you know I'm not one to judge a book by it's cover, but it's Craigslist after all. I don't want to be 'surprised' to meet a 400 lb dude that can't keep up. I didn't put that in the ad, btw. But I just wanted to weed out the stoners (there's a lot of that here in CO) and you know, people that might look threatening. I'm a girl, and I get along better with guys, so it was posted in the platonic section.

Well, this simple posting generated all kinds of hate mail, I've been called: self entitled, whore, pic collector, you name it. Was it wrong for me to ask for a pic?

Whoa. Apparently so. I get your intent though and it's reasonable.

Craigslist is sooo random and dicey. I think you better look at meet up groups.

Posting a hiking ad on craigslist? Are you blond? Find a forum that deals with hiking/outdoors stuff and find out when the meetups are.

Hopefully you learned something.

CLers wouldn't last one minute in meetup groups.

LOL.

I don't think the response was proportionate to your post, but I don't frequent CL except for jobs. $0.02
