holler21 Posted September 21, 2004 Share Posted September 21, 2004 hey every1, im new to this forum so be nice! lol but ive bin reading it for months...i just need some advice, im gay, and my 2month boyfriend has just moved down south to university (near London)...grrr i live up here in Leeds...neway jst b4 he went we decided to have a LDR, we like each other alot, and the past 8/9 weeks have bin amazing so we didnt want to stay just friends. but ive never had a LDR before and im just scared things wont work out like i want them too, u know the cliche with gay people im willing&able and i think he is too, but what things need to be done in order for the relationship to survive the distance? we've said that we wud call every few days, and we trust each other despite my track record, we text every day neway and arranged that im down there every three/four weeks...but since hes got down there its like hes not asking bout me, and just talking bout himself, but is he just stressed out wit it all?...and it feels so weird talking to him on the fone as we have never relied on that communication before, my mind goes blank and i dont know what to say to him any kind of advice, nething will be appreciated thanx! Papillon Posted September 22, 2004 Share Posted September 22, 2004 I think gay relationships have other hurdles to overcome. I don't need to list them, I think you realise what I'm trying to say. The point is, considering that gay relationships have other special challenges, it being a LDR might actually not even be a biggy at all. Conversely, however, it might add an additional burden on top of everything else, and the relastionship might crack under the strain. Telephone conversations are horrible. I hate'em. I rely so much on the other person's face and expressions to not only provide information on his/her mood, but to also subconsciously queue me into what to say next. So don't worry about uncomfortable silences - they're part of the medium's shortcomings. Link to post Share on other sites
