IMO, modern dating is not conducive to long-term relationships or long-term marriages.

Because of all of the options available, people have "grass is greener" syndrome. One little bump in the road and they seek out other opportunities, often to the emotional and financial (in marriages) ruin of both parties. Instead of fixing what is, they seek to trade up.

It's certainly no wonder that the divorce rate is so high.

I've been guilty of this in the past and have since realized how stupid I was to have this mindset.

I mean REAL dating! Going out with more than one person at a time, in order to keep your eyes and options open, to get to know more than one person/personality and see how the chemistry is "sans physical stuff", BEFORE you totally and fully commit to ONE person!

What for? Why get to know many persons on a superficial level instead of getting to know one person at a deep level when you're looking for commitment?

I never got the American concept of "mulitdating", roasting, I mean, rotating many guys on a plate like chicken. I'd rather get to know one person exclusively than many people on superficial "dates".

The point is finding that one person to get to know better.

I think people would get much further with this attitude.....if they're actually serious about finding something long term.

By the way, if a woman doesn't wish to have sex whilst juggling several other men, does anyone think there'd be an issue with a guy agreeing, but inquiring if it's OK to be having sex with someone who is willing without being in a LTR? That doesn't actually affect their agreement to hold off as it stands, and for all the guy knows, the woman could be having sex with the *right* guy before being in a committed relationship.

I personally wouldn't bother with someone knowing that they're juggling multiple guys in the first place, so I would never feel the need to ask this question and I probably wouldn't do something like that anyway..

I don't think many people are worth that kind of effort, especially total strangers. Why go through so much trouble for someone who is likely only making a superficial assessment while you have a brief get together in some public venue? I can compete, but why should I when there are other ways of going about it?

The girl didn't have to even make it into some formal sort of "job interview" date, she could've just scouted out a few guys and got to know each one casually and naturally as an acquaintance or friend and then made it obvious to her ideal that she's interested..
