Wolvesbaned Posted September 20, 2004 Posted September 20, 2004 It's been some years since the last I've been single and now that I am ... I've been catching myself strolling down memory lane. I'd obviously married the wrong man and now after the fact, I wonder now and again "what if". Before anyone comments about how pointless it is, well, it is but it's kinda fun too --and you can't tell me there's never been stray thoughts about a long-ago ex or an old crush? For some reason, tonight I thought about an old friend, not the usual person that pops up but one that makes more sense He was a Canadian boy and back then I had the biggest crush on him. He was handsome, tall, athletic, giving, and used to finish my sentences. Last I spoke to him we were both getting married and just as luck would have it, we admitted our crush on each other, casually cause it was after the fact and situations were 'different'. I remember how shocked I was to hear it... us comparing who was more psycho obsessive... then ending the call with a mixture of excited oddness while instantaneously realizing it didn't matter. Anyway, he invited me to his wedding and set it up so I could say at his folks house. But I didn't go because my soon-to-be husband at the time couldn't travel and I'm guessing his soon-to-be wouldn't be too trilled either. I'd forgotten about him all this time. Thats one memory.... what's yours
quankanne Posted September 20, 2004 Posted September 20, 2004 went back home and stayed at my best friend's house for the weekend. she pulled out a recent copy of the yearbook done by the kids from the high school we attended, and we looked at all the little kids who belonged to former classmates. Later, after she went to bed, I pulled out her old copies of the four "Pirates' Log" yearbooks from when we were in high school ourselves. Of course, I just *had* to look up the photos of all the boys I'd ever had a crush on during those years, and discovered that in one book, my photo was placed right next to the boy I'd been sweet on since fifth grade! Did that ever make my day in a goofy kind of way funnier yet, Steph has been telling me how it's been moving back home after all these years. Her son's classmates are pretty much the children of people we'd gone to school with; the librarian at his elementary school just happens to be the wife of a boy Steph dated in school! Of course, her son rolls his eyes whenever she tells him "I went to school with so-and-so's dad/mom/uncle." Lately, though, he bugs Steph to tell him the names of all her old boyfriends!!!!
