Just went to B&N to look up a book I saw someone mention in one of the threads and was amazed/shocked/depressed to see how many books there are. Anyone have any particular luck/connection with a specific title?

I really liked "It's Called A Breakup Because It's Broken." It's more aimed at girls but I think the advice could be helpful to men, too.

"Rebuilding when your Relationship Ends" by Dr. Bruce Fisher

my counselor gave me this book and it really gave me a good perspective. I wasn't dealing with a divorce, but I just applied the knowledge to my BU and it really helped. Especially considering I was probably just as hurt as someone who was dealing with a divorce.

It basically describes the different stages you go through in trying to reach "freedom" and all of the "building blocks" you will go through. I liked to think of myself actually climbing these "building blocks" as I was reading the book. It helped me a bit but wasn't a magic bullet. I can't say it solved all of my problems, but every night I'd read a chapter on where I thought I was in the process and it made me realize I was further along than I thought but still had a long way to go.

This is a bit off topic, but this book gave me a new perspective on life after my breakup. It made me realize that there is so much more to everything then heartbreak.

The afterlife of billy fingers.

I would highly recommend this if you are a spiritual person or feeling lost.

Yeah, this is the one that brought me to B&N in the first place. I think it was something you quoted about incompatibilities seemed to fit right in with my situation. Going to order this one today :p

I'm reading that now. Has it helped you? My therapist recommended it to me...

I liked "Mars and Venus: Starting Over" by John Gray. It makes a lot of good points and offers the prospective from both sexes.

I got this one, but there was just too many "exercises" in it for me. All the taking inventories of past relationships, making lots of lists, etc. I'm just not motivated enough to do all that. The chapter on NC was good though.

I'm just finishing that one up now... Pretty good, but older - 1980's...

I read this in 2 days. I really enjoyed it. Some comic relief, and overall decent advice. Just felt better after reading it! Thanks for the suggestion.
