Are women more likely to feign indifference?

This is hypothetical, but is based of an experience I had a few years ago.

 

Let's say you are in a relationship, and get into an argument/fight. As a guy, you are pretty busted up about it, and the girl says she doesn't want to see you and needs some time/space.

 

 

Generally speaking, is it common for women to be able to hide their feelings from the guy much more than vice-versa?

It's not as simple as categorization by gender for specific behaviours. Context is necessarily, including personality of individuals involved and relationship dynamics.
