Ok, so long story short:

I had been on 4 dates with this girl (2 of them she wanted to go on); we were really hitting it off well and I felt that we had good chemistry. A side note, we have not slept together yet.

She went on vacation for Spring Break 2 weeks ago. Didn't hear from her the entire vacation. A few days after vacation I checked in to see how things were going, etc., but got voicemail. Haven't heard back from her since. The last I had heard from her I had asked if she wanted to hang out to watch something low-key (I forget what it was) and she said that she was having a walk with her grandparents..and haven't heard since.

Why would she just suddenly lose interest like that? What could have happened in that week she was away that would have turned her off?

Either she met someone else or lost interest but "I'm walking with my grandparents" is one of the lamest brush offs I've heard...

I think she decided she is not interested in you after all. The grandparents thing speaks volumes to me. Basically it was a brush off. I would not contact her again.

Also, it is perfectly within the realm of possibility that she met someone new on vacation or reignited an old flame.

I agree, brush off. The grandparents thing is a new one to me, but it's definately a brush off.

I've got one better. Last girl I had been dating turned down date because she said " I need to stay home and wash my hair tonight". WTF?! Needless to say I knew right then we were done. Following day she broke things off with me. Not sure why because things had been going well. Had spent the previous day texting me how much she couldn't wait to see me (we live 180 miles apart and I work in her city every other week) and how she was thinking about me. It's been a month and I'm still scratching my head over how the switch flipped off so quick.

OP and guy above me: in both your sitchez my immediate thought is that they met someone else/things got more serious with someone else.

Good thing is its not personal right?

OP back off, maybe after the rush of holiday romance has worn off she'll realise the cool dude that actually lives near her is a pretty good option.

imo she never indicated she had much interest to lose.
