Anyone checked out Central America as a place to buy a vacation rental or even retire there. I here good things about it but it would be great to get input from someone who has real experience with this. I hear Panama is a very nice country.

Costa Rica and Belize wouldn't be out of the question, and Panama's nice from what I understand.

 

A big no to Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras or Nicaragua.

I've been to Guadalajara and Lake Chapala, and there are a ton of American and Canadian retirees there, but that was before things started getting bad in Mexico. I have no idea what that area is like now.
