My ex and I broke up a few months ago, and during the time we were still talking and seeing each other a little. She came across that she needed some money because she a bit in hole because her job was cutting her hours and she was in the process in switching jobs. She said she couldn't ask her parents because she didn't want them to know that she was leaving her job... she didn't tell them and didn't want them knowing her situation.

She asked her sister and she lent her some money but she also came to me. At the time I made a bad decision and I lent her the money. The amount isn't that much it's only $260. But from what happened a few days ago, I no longer want to deal with her anymore and I completely have no respect for her and right now all I just want is what is mine.

So my question is, is it worth it? To ask her back for the money? I don't plan on getting my any of my personal stuff I just want the money that I worked hard for.

Appreciate the feedback...

It was a bad decision, and what's more you were perpetuating the lie she told her parents.

What will she do next month, when she still has no job - ask you for more'salary'....?

In my opinion, I would go get your stuff back - and as you do, ask her for the money.

If she can't give it to you, tell her to give you something of hers to sell at a yard sale.

If she protests, tell her - "Oh, so it's ok to ask me for money, but when I want it back and it might entail YOU making a little sacrifice, suddenly, it doesn't matter?

I either want the money, or something to sell.

Otherwise your parents are going to learn what a liar you are."

I could do that but I don't want to start anymore and drama between her and I. Enough has been done already. I had a thought of sort of say "blackmailing" her that if she doesn't give me the money, then I would tell her parents that she asked me to borrow money. But, there's no point in going so far and thinking of schemes to get her back now. All I want is what is mine.

Plus im not going to make her own parents try to hate their own daughter to make myself feel better.. I wouldn't do that. She's old enough to decide what to do.

When I 'lend' money to a family member, friend or the like, I do so with the understanding that I will never see that money again. $260 isn't much money...just move on and let it go.

I know its not much.. and I have been thinking whether to just let it go. and your right.. when you "lend" money to people its personal...

Ask politely but firmly for your money and belongings back. Go from there.

UPDATE!!!

I've decided that Im not going to bother to go through in asking her to return the money I lent her. $260 is nothing.. And I thought it through and having to see her again for this is just pointless. I have nothing left for her and plus she will never tell me her true feelings about this whole outcome. It's a waste of time and I will never get a single word out of her.

Maybe the loss of the money is worth not having to deal with her anymore. If she asks for more money, remind her she did not keep her word, again!

Or you could ask the skankiest of the local skanks the going rate and have her work of the debt.
