Are European guys (particularly Spanish) more likely to openly flirt with women?

Hi, I'm 18 and recently got back from a school trip to Spain and France. On this trip something strange happened.... I was hit on ... A LOT. This is strange because here in America I rarely and I mean RARELY get hit on. Out of the two countries I visited I would say that Spanish men were ridiculously flirtatious with me! I'm a pretty pessimistic person so I've been dismissing the amount of times I got hit on in these countries as just a cultural thing that they do to every girl. I told my friend about it and she said that Spanish men like black women. Lol so my question is... Are European men just flirtatious with any woman? Is it cultural?

Spanish men are awesome. I was hit on there way more than here also. I went to a night club and I couldn't walk more than a few steps without someone hitting on me or wanting to dance. They are usually sexy too.

It is a more open culture while in some places in America people are afraid to even look each other in the eye.

Yes.

But that doesn't take away from the fact that you're a very pretty girl.

Yes, and also more l likely to be chauvinistic, controlling and demanding immediately following the honeymoon period. That's their culture...in their world women are for f'ing, cooking cleaning. They laugh at the way men from other cultures treat their women as equals. They consider it weak.

:lmao:

We have spanish men in our family. Sorry but it just couldn't get better. NONE of the stuff you say applies to them, in fact they talk about the inequality that goes on here. Have you ever even been there?

Maybe you look exotic to these men.

I have no idea why American men don't flirt with you. You're stunning.

Spanish, French and Italian men are notorious flirts.

Southern and Central Europeans are notorious flirts. Men and women. LOVE that about their culture. So much innocent fun. What is nice about it is that it is never mean spirited or disgusting.

Although, you really can't take them too seriously. It's just light banter.

The Northern Europeans.... not much flirting going on there... but they are open minded. The last time I went to Denmark, they joked around that they were just like Germans... but with a sense of humor... that was funny.

Right after they said that to me, I witnessed a tall, very attractive woman being patted down by male security. Guess that's the perks of the job over there. She didn't seem to mind. The guys were pretty cute. I was a little bummed they didn't pick me. ha ha

Nothing is wrong with you. American men are just scared to even speak to a woman because we are afraid to get accused of sexual harrassment.

I think here in America there's such an emphasis on religious morality and being conservative that anything remotely sexual is frowned upon and kinda demonized. It's certainly the case here in the south. Being openly flirty in my experiences and from viewing others is seen as being a sleeze ball more times than not, parents particularly tell young daughters that those kinda guys are only after one thing.

That being said, when John decides to flirt with Jane the reaction from her is usually stand off-ish/uncomfortable even if she thinks he's cute/interesting. There's nothing wrong with playing hard to get, but after awhile (at least, as a guy) this kind of mentality can get me a little frustrated, so I just give up on being outgoing and wait for the stars to align and try at some conversation with a girl I'm pursuing. It's cultural differences.
