El Brujo Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 It's happened again... I've attracted the attentions of a woman I probably wouldn't be that interested it. Friday night, I attended a speed dating meetup. I know the host, and I know he's not exactly living the Life of Riley, so I figured what the hell, I'll show up just for the hell of it. In all, there were 15 men but only 8 women (one of the men was this huge guy from Nigeria who, like me, was on the shy side and preferred to be approached rather that do the approaching). I marked "yes" next to each of the women's names on my card when I was done and gave it to the host, expecting that every one of the women would think I was repulsive and would reject me. These things get predictable after a while. What a surprise I got on Saturday morning when the match results came in. The one woman who yessed me back, turned out to be the one who creeped me out a little by staring me into the eyes the whole time... and get this, she was the first woman I've ever met who has a fetish for left handed guys (usually it's the other way around). This really shorted my circuits. To boot, I overheard her telling one of the other women that she has a grown kid... SOOOOO not my type. Anyhow, I made the mess, the least I can do is be a man about it and clean it up. I'll get in touch with her, shoot the breeze for a bit... but I'll tell her the up-front truth, that I'm straight but openly asexual, and I'm not looking to be someone's stepdad. She may just want to be friends. Sorry, folks... no roughhouse sex is going to come out of this one.
january2011 Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 She may just want to be friends. Is there any point in that if she creeped you out? Besides, you'd be setting up more drama for yourself if she thinks that the offer of friendship means that you're open to changing your mind. Which I would guess, based on your post, you are not.
KungFuJoe Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 If you're asexual why are you even attempting to date? 2
Mr_Flay Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 I marked "yes" next to each of the women's names on my card Why do you do that? Firstly, it gets you in situations like this one. That woman can now rightly accuse you of having strung her along for your amusement. Secondly, If you mark everybody "yes", you know that nobody has marked you. If you put "yes" next to only those women you like, and it doesn't result in a date, you still keep your self-confidence by imagining that at least a few of the other women may have put the check-mark next to your name.

FitChick Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 I overheard her telling one of the other women that she has a grown kid. I'm not looking to be someone's stepdad. If he's grown, wouldn't you be more likely to be a possible friend? Not the same as having a small child and being a stepdad. Why don't you start a meetup for asexuals?
apple OR orange Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 "mind the gap, pleast step on to the train of i am single now i am 70 and its everyone elses fault"
Author El Brujo Posted April 7, 2013 Author Posted April 7, 2013 If you're asexual why are you even attempting to date? Breeders aren't the only people who could use a little kindness once in a while. Why don't you start a meetup for asexuals? If you lurked on AVEN, you'd know that someone else beat me to it by 1/2 a year.
wisernow Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 So it creeped you out that she stared into your eyes? Maybe you have pretty eyes? And is there really such a thing as a left handed fetish? Perhaps you need to find an asexual speed dating event.
