Even though I sometimes see the typical, garden variety dating profile....I sometimes make attempt to elaborate on certain points in their profile.

For instance, they say they enjoy the outdoors, kayaking the local venues, and enjoy festivals and craft shows.

I do say I enjoy some of the same things, but I follow it up with even specific names of said venues.

Something like "I like ABC state park, it's a great area for both hiking and kayaking, but my MOST favorite is DEF park, because they have hiking and monthly festivals and vendors".

Something to that effect.....however they nary get a response either, and that's why you see guys just using the "shotgun" approach.

It is good that you show that you know about these things, but make it specific. Like, a short blip or story about the last time you were out at ABC park... or the time you went kayaking... or some little trinket you found at a craft show.

If you aren't doing this already... I'd also suggest you ask them a question that requires a response... Brief, like...

Up here it would be

... Wow! we really got pummeled with snow last week. I see you are into hiking. How do you feel about snow shoes? I've never tried them, but it looks like fun!"

Showing specific proof with a short story (just a sentence or two) and a willingness to try new things always went a long ways with me when I did OLD...

This is completely serious:

A buddy of mine who does online dating received very few responses to his profile, until he added "Oh and if it helps, I'm hung like a donkey" at the end.

Just half an hour after adding that, he received seven 'clicks'.

He has continued to successfully attract interesting females....

I guess though, it also helps that yes, in fact, he is.

That would be one of those sex references that women say they hate in OLD initial emails. That it actually works is amusing as hell to me this morning.

I couldn't get away with that though. I'm not a very good liar.

I got this one on OKC today. Instead of turning me on, it completely grossed me out :sick:

So yeah, don't do that :(

Hi love to bend you over and spank that sexy ass yours then lick you out till your eyes roll to the back you head and your toes twirl right back and then cook you breakfast in bed :)

It would have been worse, if it had ended with,

"Lots of love, Dad."

Well, everyone needs to highlight what they think are their best assets... ha ha.

Just be yourself...

What are you ging to do if someone tells you to do something out of your comfort zone and you get results? Then, each time you go to meet the person you have to check online to see what the LS people want you to do before you make your next move?.

I've had lots of success with the following line:

So, what do you think about the new ordinance on waste disposal?

Or some other most boring thing on the local news at the time. It gets me replies because nobody expects municipal policies on a dating site; it just sounds so outlandish. :D Post whatever comes to your mind first, or whatever salient thing you read about in their profiles. Remember, you've come to the OLD site to have fun, and you have chosen that particular girl to be your partner in entertainment. Let her feel that through that first message of yours. ;)

I've gotten responses from sending women:

"what's going on?"

Why did I go that route?

Because for the majority of women online, whether they respond or not is based on the little picture of me they see in their inn-box whether women want to admit it or not.

The overly picky women & women who look for any reason to disqualify a man are not my target audience so it doesn't really matter what I put I put down.

LOL...yeah the more outlandish the better.

I would try to make a remark about a certain activity she's doing in her profile, usually remark about what kind of outdoor equipment she's using in her photo, and her favorite outdoor shop she likes to go shopping at.

Still ...no response.

You can be creative or as ENGAGING as you'd like in your initial email, but all they do is "look at the pictures"

That's also true. But some will still prefer an average-looking guy who can engage them to a dumb jock whose only plus is an attractive physique.

Basically, avoid the standard, run-of-the mill messages. This includes very short ones, ungrammatical ones, desperate ones, creepy ones, and bland ones. Anything else goes. Put herself in the girl's shoes: if you received 50 messages each day, you'd only reply to the most interesting ones. Chances are you wouldn't even check out the profiles of the most boring messages. So make your message stand out from the rest, and you might just get your foot in the door.

There had been times, where I would get a woman respond...like she'd say she was really impressed with what I had to say...but she didn't think we'd make a good match.

Kind of made me feel good she said that, made me think that I might've been doing something wrong the whole time.

It's rare a woman would compliment your writing skills and what you have to offer...giving you REAL feedback.
