diverspyy79 Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 Hi iam a 25 year old male and i need advice from the ladies or anyone that know on how to keep your face looking nice and glowing. I Need to know what kind of stuff is good for the face to keep it looking nice and healthy? Is washing your face with cold water ok? I dont smoke or party hard lol
tiki Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 Not too sure about men's facial care, but women are recommended to moisturize and exfoliate. Maybe it's the same? I have no idea. Stay out of the sun and always wear sunscreen if you will be exposed.
Author diverspyy79 Posted September 14, 2004 Author Posted September 14, 2004 Iam ok with it. What is exfoliate?
lioness Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 What is exfoliate? Exfoliating is using a granular cleanser or moisturizer to remove the rough dead skin cells that can make your skin appear dull and dry. Some of my personal favorites are home concoctions... like, using your favorite moisturizer mixed with some sugar (brown or white, doesn't matter) and scrub your face, gently, then rinse with cold water. You can also make some mixes with honey and cornmeal, and your favorite essential oils. I wouldn't do it every day though. And I usually like to follow up with a nice, soothing mask. Sugar is probably the most gentle exfoliater you can use, and if you mix your own you can find what consistency works best for you. The fruit acids in the sugar are also great for your skin. There are commercial brands available, and there are some specifically formulated for men. Just take a look around the skincare aisle in the grocery store or drug store. Natural grocers are a great place to find good facial care products.
tokyo Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 Let me see your face first so I can see if it´s still nice and healthy or if it needs more profound means like plastic surgery... Exfoliate: Like peeling. Scrubbing off (gently!) old skin. Don´t do it too often, like every day. Drink a lot of water, use sun screen. Tan is nice, but not solarium, makes your skin age faster and dries it out.

tiki Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 I think it's cool as hell when men actually care about themselves and their appearances. Two thumbs up to queer eye for the straight guy...I feel they've made men more aware!!! Men can be hot too!!! Lots of water IS a great idea!
Author diverspyy79 Posted September 14, 2004 Author Posted September 14, 2004 well iam a 25 man but feel like a 12 year old boy inside. LOL "YOUR AS OLD AS YOU LOOK AND FEEL NOT AS YOUR ARE"

loveregardless Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 My face and the condition of my skin and complexion is the only thing that, even on a bad day, I can't complain about. My main secret is in the SPF baby. I may occasionally get a litte too much sun on the rest of me, but no matter where I am I always keep sunscren on my face. Other than that I just use soap in the shower and a little lotion now and again, maybe a quick swipe with a stridex pad if I look a little clogged. But the sunscreen is the best advice in the world...not just on your face though...you should try your whole body. It's amazing how you'll still look 30 when your 30 unlike the sun goddesses and sun worshipers who will look 55. I know it's so cliche, but it's true. And I'll have to get a pic of my pretty face to show you the wonderful results that you get on the loveregardless skin regiment. Only 15 easy payments of 19.95...this offer ends soon...
plushious Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 do you exfoliate with warm or cold water???

tokyo Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 Papi, did you spend the last 24 minutes since your last post and this one to write this absolutely amazing advice??? It´s true, too much sun ruins your skin. Does anyone know Isabelle Adjani? French actress, looks great, must be over 40. I once read she avoids the sun in order to protect her skin. Also nuns are supposed to have good skin (might also be due to other factors like no nagging husband or boyfriend, no fear of unemployment, etc.). Smoking is also very bad for your skin. A friend of mine claims that a woman who smokes has a more aged skin than a woman who doesn´t.
cateinaus Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 Well I'm glad you asked! Skin care/Body care is my passion! The answer to "how do I keep my skin looking young?" is easy- use my products! Whoever said you are as old as how you feel, surely they mean you are as old as "the person you are feeling" (at the time ) Papillon- looks like you are bored Sh****ss! Some of you have said to use sunscreen......... Cold water is the best (whoever it was asking) as hot water can tend to cause surface veins.

Papillon Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 Whoever said you are as old as how you feel, surely they mean you are as old as "the person you are feeling" Well then I'm never gonna grow old because I'm not feeling anyone
Leikela Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 I am 28 years old and all the time I get comments that people thought I was 22, 23, 24, etc... Here's my regimen: When I shower, I use St. Ives Apricot Scrub Medicated. It is an exfoliator and works great to rub off dead cells and makes your face feel so smooth afterwards. I use the medicated version of it to help ward of pimples since I tend to have oily skin. If you don't have oily skin, there is a non-medicated version that is just as good. I rub the scrub into my face in little circles. I even do my neck. I then leave it on and wash it off once I'm ready to rinse my whole body off. After the shower, I pat my face dry. Don't rub it dry as this will irritate it. Then I apply small amounts of Clearasil to all parts of my face and rub that in. Even if you don't have pimples, Clearasil will help prevent any from popping up. My face is clear and I use Clearasil everyday. On top of Clearasil, I apply L'Oreal Future E SPF 15 skin moisturizer. It moisturizes the skin and protects it from the sun with it's SPF 15 and is 99.9% oil free so you don't have to worry about it cloggins your pores. Since I tend to have oily skin, during the day I use Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets. These work wonders when you're at work or away from home and can't wash your face. They soak up any excess oil and leave your face feeling clean and refreshed. That's what I do everyday to keep my face looking young, fresh, and pimple free! I can't tell you how many times I still get carded and how people mistake me for being in my early twenties. It's great!
cateinaus Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 Very funny Papillon On a serious note: Does your skin care contain parabens- (scientific studies have linked parabens to causing cancer). Does it contain Formaldehyde releasing ingredients- (these fall under various names such as Urea and Formalin, DEA's, Germaben and about 20 other names-Formaldehyde also causes cancer). Does it contain other carcinogenic ingredients that you are unaware of-(some manufacturers change the names of ingredients once people become aware of its potential hazards). Does it contain herbs, vitamins and so on- (these are all normally present at 1% or less but manufacturers/marketers often use the fact that they have waved the herb over the container to sell the product). Skin is the largest organ of the body and it absorbs very efficiently, hence the use of HRT and Nicotine patches. The skin cannot differenciate between what is okay to absorb and take into the blood stream and what is not. It is therefore your resonibility to be an informed consumer.
tokyo Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 cateinaus seems to believe that you really need to do something for your face, Papillon. Get a little tan
Papillon Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 One day when I'm 59 and you're 60, we'll compare skin texture, okay?
tokyo Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 You mean little §@%§$&/ I will have rich husband who pays for plastic surgery, how´s that?
SoleMate Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 1) Sunscreen, minimum SPF15, every day of your life. Use SPF30 if you are going skiing or going to be on the water. Make sure it is waterproof. 2) AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) cream, several times per week, to exfoliate, and remove discolorations and fine lines 3) Salicylic acid cream, several times per week or as needed, to fight blackheads, clogged pores, pimples 4) Soothing shaving cream and post-shave soothing treatment 5) Regular sexual activity for best blood flow, and that special glow 6) Try not to frown Good luck!
