chex Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 If one truly wants to learn how to identify lies, it involves thousands of hours of face to face contact when money, lives or other material things are at stake, not hooking electrodes up to people and endlessly analyzing photos and film for body language. Professional poker players?

Yep, cops, doctors, lawyers, judges, mediators, (am sure there are others) also learn how to determine lies over time through lots of watching, listening, reading and even reasoning. I didn't really develop the problem with cameras enough. For example, let's say that a claim is made that "looking up and to the right" indicates lying. What if bright lights, or banks of cameras are "down and to the left?" or right in one's face? Imagine many, many different variables involving cameras or television. Any attempts to use filmed or photographic examples of lying without taking even a moment to present the problems inherent in such is suspect as biased commentary. There are many muscles and nerves in the human body. They are twitching all the time due to merely needing to be exercised. Much "body language" is a product of this and habituation. Not mentioning this at all is also a sure sign of bias in such "research" based messages. The frequent reference to supposed telling "smiles" and "grimaces" in such research without proper disclaimers particularly annoy me. Edited April 7, 2013 by dasein
Author Noproblem Posted April 7, 2013 Author Posted April 7, 2013 Only time I personally really lie in a relationship is when I am trying to get a girl to go out with me, mostly because I have more success getting a date and having a chance. Actually I have to admit I lie all the time trying to pump up a girl I am with about telling them how awesome they are and how beautiful I think they are etc. That they are the most beautiful person I have ever met etc. Then again even though it isn't true many times I wish it was. But I personally don't lie to women to try and sleep with them. I am a relationship person. I try to set things up for the long term. I guess I am hoping if I pump them up they will get excited and and get me going as well. I guess I am bad that way. But creating positive energy is even to feed off and easy to have people feed off, even if you have to stretch the truth just a bit. Omg, now I'll start doubting every compliment I get
