I just built my own gym in my garage. Screw going to public gyms...having to wait for the equipment you want to use and dealing with newbs who don't know how to rack their weights when they're done. Or taking 5 minutes between each set.

And ESPECIALLY having to search far and wide for the OTHER 80lb dumbbell that some idiot placed all the way next to the 5s and 10s.

So basically hot girl time at your gym is when your wife comes to nag you about taking out the trash?

We don't usually work out at the same time because she runs on the treadmill and hogs the fan!

Truth is, I workout where ever and get a good workout because I don't worry about what other people are doing and I will dominate and/or just don't care.... where ever I am.

I do however like more upscale gyms (I am a member of 4 different gyms all with multiple locations) as it keeps the usual suspects (rude inconsiderate people) from being members and they don't oversell. Such clubs will actually have spacing between their treadmills so the guy running next to you isn't breathing on your neck.

I'd recommend for women to pay the extra $$$ for a more upscale gym. You'll know you're there when you are in the parking lot and 70% of the cars are late model German cars.......in a subdued/basic color of course. Every man in such gyms are going to be well off financially.

Yea those gyms here are about $300 a month. I take fitness classes that are all women and get way better results from those. There are sometimes one or 2 guys in the class, but thats weird for pilates type classes.

Sorry...I know I'm a bit slow tonight. Totally exhausted and only still up because I've got to create a report for my boss by tomorrow morning and I'm procrastinating on LS.

As usual....

They also use the odd-numbered treadmills, alternate arm and leg machines and often listen to Miley Cyrus.

The hottest guys are usually in the showers at 5 o'cock. No homo, no pun intended, all rights reserved.

Monday evenings, 5 to 8 PM is a total meat market at my gym. I have seen girls come in and not touch a weight or machine, they just come in and socialize.

My gym has a PSA that comes on the TV's every now and then that says something like: "No Gazing. Staring is rude and distracting to gym patrons as they are working out."

LOL.

I'm in your area, and I agree.

My gym is in the West Loop, and there are several gyms there filled with hot girls. But a lot of the not-so-posh clubs like some of the X-Sports in the usual suspect neighborhoods are crawling with beautiful girls as well.

Amusing enough, when I've spoken of men and women going out to do things like work out or grocery shop, and "look approachable", I also add in to go to the neighborhood where singles live.

I live in an area mainly full of senior citizens, new families, and Polish immigrants. Gyms in my area usually get the folks looking to lose weight or maintain. However, when I went downtown or to the more affluent suburbs, I'll see the eye candy. Same deal with the yuppie areas full of singles.

Granted I don't go looking for it. My current gym is a suburban tennis club with a workout room. Even after New Years the workout room was empty...ideal for me since I'm not really "shopping".

I honestly think athletic men and women who want to meet similar types should run marathons and charity functions as such. I've known many aspiring fashion models who get all excited about the marathons because of their quest for fitness. Suffice to say I'm sure the athletic male could potentially meet someone there...plus there isn't the drama of the bar/club scene.

Hottest girls apparently don't need full time jobs...

I'm sure there are princesses who live off other people's money, but I see more bartenders who do or can do modeling work in the gym in the daytime. Their normal work hours are evenings, so they're free in the day.

I've known hot looking consultants and event planners who also have odd hours. Even some in the medical field as well. Not everyone works 9-5.

Tru dat.

If you are the athletic type, go to some 5Ks - they're all over, raising money for this and that. It is easier to mingle than at the gym too. Chat up the cute girl behind you at the starting line. Blow her doors off in the race then go find her later and say, "So how did you do?"

However, if she runs a better time than you, do not seek her out afterwards. Your poor conditioning and stamina has exposed you as an inferior specimen and she will never respect you as a man.

I cant believe people are that stupid to pay 300/mo for a gym membership. Ive been to those gyms. 98% of the people that "work out" there look like they never worked out in their life.

Ill take my 25/mo. hardcore gym. All work- no bull****...

I can't believe this thread got so much life.

It's ridiculous!

I disagree. 6 To 8 PM, in my personal experience...

Absolutely

And does joining a yoga studio count...?

I can attest to that fact that those provide optimal conditions at almost all times of day when classes are running...

Yes I'd say Sundays between 11am and 12.30pm are particularly good in my experience

Sometimes, and this is where the concept of 'relative' comes in, people make enough money so that their $300 = your $25. Chances are, they might not even be stupid, as evidenced by the fact they can afford the $300/mo gym membership.

It happens, you know.

I could afford $600/mo for a gym just as easily. Not the point. But I am not going to a gym to troll for women ,text my friends or get an apricot facial.

Ive been to these gyms. My secretary belongs to one and I went a few times. Totally uninspiring. To each his own.

But one fact that is not lost on me, in regards to the specific studio i would go to, is that it is FILLED with hot girls.

Truth; especially the studios that offer bikram... :bunny:

I dunno. I can't see women in these situations as being that judgmental. If it's a guy she thinks is attractive and charming, I'm sure she wouldn't judge. Not unless he comes in around last place and is wheezing like he's about to keel over.

I just notice the mentality of these athletic women is they want a guy who takes care of himself. A guy who can run a marathon, looks good with his shirt off, has a life, isn't too narcissistic, and thus is balanced.

Can't blame the women either. If I worked incredibly hard to be in amazing shape, then I would want to meet similar-minded women.

I don't even think about talking to girls at my gym. Not sure why...just never an organic way to start a conversation. A couple of my buddies at the gym have done well at gym social functions....like every couple of months, they do a meet-and-greet at the restaurant next door, and then all the cuties from the gym are in social rather than work-out mode.

Sounds like good ideas.

When I used to work out at places like Bally's or X-Sport, I also felt that everyone (not just women) was in their own zone or world. It's like when people on these forums ask about approaching women on the train...but lament that it seems they're all holding invisible "DO NOT DISTURB" signs up through wearing headphones and eyes locked on smartphone or book.

I saw the same in the gym. Everyone in their "zone", everyone wearing headphones. The post-gym social gatherings and athletic gatherings are a winner for those into that.

I'm about to enter yoga phase. That's going to be a whole new can of worms. The yoga studio I would go to.....damn. Amazing.

I did pilates for a while. I liked the isometric workout, but my fiance wanted to move to yoga. I did try it, but wasn't into it.

Not really I am married to a very high profile athlete, and used to date very sports oriented women (triathlon etc), and I dont do weights, run or consider myself a high profile runner, but heck sex is super, I have a good body, not a six pack or a super ripped stomach, but I am Firm and a nice smile, good conversation (also knowing their trade helps a ton), makes them more easily, in fact joking that I dont do marathons because I am sure that by kilometer 25 Ill be already dead by a heart attack or aneurism, or riddled with blisters on my feet, always makes them laugh, then I take my shoes of and show how delicate my feet are...and....

Yep, seems LS folks need a waterhole to flirt...

Narcissism always duels on those who put too much effort on how they look, I have never seen a guy or a woman with a super body, not showing it off at the first chance...

Once someone asked a Nobel prize winner in literature (who was very fat), when was the last time he had a workout, his answer was: when was the last time you read a Book?... the point is that everyone of us tries to make himself better, some choose the body route, some the brain route...no biggie.

I just carry a couple of 80 pound plates around on my pinkies while doing other exercises, that way other folks can't get them.

The re-retort would be "when was the last time you read a book without eating it?"

Agreed...but an obese person, even a brilliant one, shouldn't complain if members of the opposite sex reject him/her because of said obesity.

I personally agree it's just as bad to spend hours a day in the gym and yet never read a book.

I tend to be Freudian and believe that every person out there working out to have a good body has "to attract good looking people" as one of the reasons why.
