Hi Guys.

A girl from my class asked a guy of my class if he had seen his 'lady friend' last night. He answered 'perhaps' with a smirk on his face.

On facebook he is stated single, never posted a post, photo or anything about her and him - EVER. and he is a facebook addict, posts 24/7, is on it 24/7.

English is not my language, so im not sure what this means.

thanks :)

for me anyway I would assume 'lady friend' here = a girl he is having sex with but is not his 'girlfriend'. Maybe he wants this friend to be more, but maybe he is happy just having her stay in the background with the no strings attached 'lady friend' status.

Hmmm, didn't think of this.

But here the girl is asking the guy about another woman that he may or may not be in a relationship with, so she's using the term in a non-committal manner. She is not certain of the relationship so she refers to her as the "lady friend."

I'm sorry, but it's not clear from your post that he ever uses the term lady friend. Did he in the past?

You are right!! He never said lady friend. But he never said he had a girlfriend either. he always says, he is 'seeing someone'.

I thought lady friend means girlfriend, but he is still stated single on Facebook (and he is seeing her for about 3-4 months now..).

with his last girfriend he rushed into a relationship, wanted to be with her badly and committed to her instantly and told everyone that they are seriously dating.

confusing.

I have been called lady friend by one man before, and it meant this^.

I've heard guys refer to a girl they are dating (not just sleeping with) as a "lady friend."

I wouldn't use FB as a barometer. I use FB quite a bit, but I'd never broadcast a relationship on there.
