bettyrendad Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 But it may take a magnitude of years. I had a real bad breakup with a girl I dated for several years right after high school. No details - just about as bad as they come. Some time had passed - about 2 years - ran into her and we ended up talking for many hours - went out on a date the next night. Lasted about 6 months - drifted apart on somewhat better terms. Went on with our own lives and reunited about 6 years ago - coincidentally both going thru our own divorces. Rekindled a bit but split again. Right now we're resolved that we will never work as a couple. However we are very close friends. We know each other life history, each other's personalities, etc. I go to family functions with her - know all her siblings, their spouses and children. It's a different bond. Yes I love her in the most plutonic sense. I do have to admit there's been a few times, when I look into her eyes I see this familiar twinkle and a flash of what used to be shoots through my mind.
