A lot of advice around suggests to write down all the bad things of your ex partner and this is a different spin on it where instead you try to write why the breakup was in fact a good thing now you can reflect and look back on it...

Anyways, I thought I'd put this up and see where it goes, just post down why you feel the breakup was a good thing in the end for you, maybe you'd been unhappy for awhile or deep down you knew this person wasn't 'the one'

I'll go first....

I'm glad we broke up because :

- I don't have to worry about a LDR while at uni

- I was stagnating as a person, I needed to grow and find new people

- The final month of the relationship stressed me out to the point of tears

- It gave me the determination to get into the gym and get a physique to be proud of now I'm back in the game

- I can go clubbing and not worry about making the ex mad

- If I chose to, I am able to have the freedom of a ONS

- I no longer have to put up with parents who didn't like me coming round

- I completely changed my image to match the excersize and have a new found sense of well-being and confidence that I lost after the breakup

- I was able to reconnect with friends on a whole new level and now truly have some great friends to hang with :)

Give it a go people

As for me, I've never been out of a relationship for more than 1 month during 4 years of dating. So welp, it helps me to learn that I can survive without 'the one', and invest more time to the stuff I enjoy.

Also, it is a big motivator to change, since my reaction nowadays is rather like this 'I'll show you whom you lost, sorry assy'.

Like the OP, I got closer to my friends, familly, returning back to my hobbies, changed what I always wanted to change about myself and etc. Generally, feeling quite happy most of the time, except the moments when I start feeling a bit worried.
