I think you have to look at the inverse to truly understand the implications of the statement ". . . with you!"

Yes there are people who may sincerely do not want a relationship. However when you meet someone you like you will want that relationship. So having that amazing person turn "Do not want" to "Do not want. . . but with you. . . "

So if they are not saying "But with you," they are saying "not with you"

Regardless if they are saying I do not want. . . they do not want. Weather it is with or without you. You do yourself a disservice by waiting. Unless its a FWB/NSA arrangement then hey they may be sincerely not wanting a relationship but your hot enough to boink.

I was tempted to answer along the same lines of "just add "with you" onto the end of that sentance and that's your answer", which 90% of the time is the case. It's not you, it's them. It's difficult to accept, but move on.

I'm glad I read this thread because I was just about to do this to someone... and of course I mean it in the "...with you" sense. I think I'll find a different way to tell her that, no, I'm not going to be her bf.

When a girl or guy says they are not looking for a relationship right now, it's very simple. They just don't want a relationship with you. They'll tell you they care about you, they're attracted to you, they love you...but they're just not ready for a relationship (WITH YOU). It's BS and they're trying not to hurt your feelings. The truth is, they may like you, they just don't think you're the one and they're not that interested in a relationship. I'm guilty of telling guys that. When you find the right guy, there is no way in H E double hockey sticks you're going to let that person walk away. If you do, you were never that into them. That feeling of being in love doesn't allow you to just walk away from it. People move mountains when they're in love. It's the same for everyone on the face of this earth. Songs, movies, loves stories...all from being in love. Love makes you crazy, but it doesn't make you walk away from it, unless it's destructive.

Goes for mainly girls im asking this too as im a guy. It just doesn't make sense to me when a girl says this. Let's say you are having loads of fun for a few months, going out on dates, just hanging out, sex, etc. What is the difference between just putting an exclusive label on it than what you already have? You might say if there's no difference, then why does it matter? Well some people like that "label" and that exclusiveness of only seeing each other. So what is the difference? Is it just the commitment of actually only being able to see that person? Does it truly mean the person wants to sleep around or that you are just no Mr. Right? I just see that line of complete BS. Or the "Im too busy". How are you too busy if you're already hanging out with that person? Maybe if you're labeled as BF/GF you might spend a little more time as you already do together, but still.

Because labels make people do funny things.

If she wants sex and hangouts but not commit to all the other things of a relationship then she is free to do so.

It means you just want to play the field, date multiple persons and have plenty of sex. You simply cannot do this in a committed relationship. So, people make up a BS excuse about 'not being ready, it's not you it's me etc' when in reality all they want to do is date and have fun. That's until of course, that special person comes into your life, which hits you like a sledgehammer and all those BS excuses go out the window as you become loved up almost immediately, with exclusivity being the only thing on the mind thereafter.

if you are dating someone exclusively it is a relationship albeit a casual one, making it official is the obvious step.......when both are ready......i have never sadi i dont want a relationship right now.i consider dating someone....to be a casual relationship........when i date i am ready beforehand to see how far it will progress.........if i dont think the guy and i are compatible...i say so .......its easier.....deb
