beyond Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Hi and Happy Easter everyone:bunny: Well, never thought I'd be posting in a dating thread (I've strayed here sometimes and it's pretty scary stuff:eek:) But a combination of reading a few threads recently plus what happened today has made me want to post about my experience. I decided to paint my bathroom over the weekend to keep myself busy and my mind off an ex who I thought was 'the one'. We dated years ago - broke up due to his GIGS then reconnected with him saying he wanted to be with me.....only he was married:rolleyes: and couldn't seem to understand my "stupid morals" at not being ok with that - I was heartbroken, put off even looking at men, resigned to living life alone with cats (I don't actually have cats, but it fits the sad image) I was expecting a delivery on Saturday, so when my someone knocked at my door, I opened it thinking that's what it was. A guy stood there apologising and saying he was looking for J (my neighbour). I told him, he lived in next apartment and he started joking about the bad signage of the apartments (it is!). I noticed at this point how gorgeous he was, and felt very self conscious that I was stood there, no make up, with an oversize shirt on covered in paint! He said something else about the parking (can't recall as was just staring at his eyes:love:) and then left to go to my neighbours. I didn't think anymore of it except was surprised my body could feel that attraction again for someone and slightly cursing that I wasn't more dressed up! This morning my Neighbour J came to the door- I know him and his girlfriend a bit but not really well. He told me his friend had not stopped going on about me all evening and wanted to know if I was single etc and could he have my number. Normally that kind of thing would freak me out a little and I would want to know someone a little first, but something just clicked inside and I thought 'why not!'. I gave J my number to give him. An hour later he rings and we talk for 40 mins (only stopped because I had someone arriving). He sounds lovely and we seem to have things in common. He has asked me for dinner next week (the first eve I'm free) and I'm excited like a teenager lol. So, for everyone thinking stuff like this never happens to you (raises own hand) or that you have to project a certain image or that your not ready.....it does, you don't and you are!!!!! Btw - I'm 38, never done or been tempted to do on line dating and don't even have facebook 2

soccerrprp Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Fantastic! I hope it works out for you, but the REALITY is that things like your experience don't happen often at all. Inspiring, but your excitement is due to the fact that it happened to have happened to you! If people sat around waiting for something like that to happen for them, they wouldn't ever have a relationship. Yeah, I know, sour grapes. Happy for you! I need to go back on POF and find my next lady! Lol! 1
Eternal Sunshine Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Meanwhile, back to browsing OKC while cuddling my cat 2

soccerrprp Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 In all fairness though, such things can happen to anyone, but IT IS TOTALLY RANDOM, OUT OF ONE'S CONTROL, so no need to dwell or feel excited about it. Just keep being active about finding that someone special... 1

If people sat around waiting for something like that to happen for them, they wouldn't ever have a relationship. Yeah, I know, sour grapes. Happy for you! I need to go back on POF and find my next lady! Lol! Well, yes of course I'm excited because it happened to me. I would never suggest sitting around waiting for stuff like that to happen. The fact is, I was 'off' dating for the forseeable future, getting on with stuff, painting around my toilet when an unexpected thing happened. But, I have to say, most of my relationships haven't started in a 'conventional' way - assuming conventional is being chatted up in a bar/club etc, as that's just not me - I avoid those places. I really wasn't trying to sound smug or anything with my post - just saying, all this pressure we put on ourselves and worry about meeting 'the one' - sometimes we should just relax and see what life has in store for us. 1
