irc333 Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 I am wondering, I hear some women use some kind of litmus test of their own to figure out or judge a man. Some have said they like to look at the kind of shoes they wear. Is this an overly fashion conscious woman or a gold digger red flag?
phineas Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 I shop at thrift stores almost exclusively. I put together <$10 outfits out of designer clothes (sometimes including the shoes) I get compliments on my shoes or outfits all the time from women at work. As for the shoes specifically, I wear leather soled shoes. Bostonian & Florsheim for example (not terribly expensive new) but I have some older European made shoes also & i've even found a pair of Allen Edmunds. most I bought for $7 or less & all look brand freaking new after I clean, polish & shine them. So if a woman is looking at my clothes to determine if I have enough money to "treat her right" she dun goofing. I dress the way I dress because I like to look professional & good at work without going broke. I personally don't care about who makes the clothes but I have to admit, certain brands are just made better than the stuff you buy at walmart or kohls. Also I like the way my hard soles clap on the ground when I walk. 2
Star Gazer Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 I look at how he puts himself together on the whole, as his style is reflective of his personality. I could care less how much each piece costs.
Aerrie Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 I could care less how much each piece costs. Well if you COULD care less, then there is still plenty less to care... Sorry to nitpick, but that line is just WAY too nonsensical not to. Hell, I am not even a native speaker, but that just makes my ears bleed. 2

Hell, I am not even a native speaker, but that just makes my ears bleed. The phrase is, "I couldn't care less". Meaning you care as little as you possibly can, no matter how hard you try. I actually had a girl tell me once on a FIRST DATE that she turns men away based on choice of shoes. Wowee, what a turn on! Luckily I was wearing just plain black Skechers so I guess its hard to complain about plain black shoes. She did agree to another date but after I reconsidered later I cancelled. Lastly, I don't think it is a gold digger red flag unless they are concerned with the brand or the cost. Some girls want a certain look or whatever. I could afford $1500 shoes but I don't see the point and I'd rather spend the money on something else.

tuxedo cat Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 This isn't something I care about. I like men who are well put together and dress with some style, though. That doesn't mean they have to spend any real money on what they wear; it's easy to find cheap, decent looking clothes. I just don't like sloppy dressers. 1
grkBoy Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Fashion is fashion. If she's in a dress with heels and he shows up in his worn-in comfy sneakers, she probably will get turned off. I'm still astounded when I see males who do not own a suit or any nice clothes. Just loads of jeans, sneakers, t-shirts, athletic wear, and a few polo shirts. Not good.
Treasa Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Men wear shoes? I swear I was a Hobbit in a past life, because I am barefoot as often as I can be, which is at home, at work when I can knock my shoes off under my desk, etc. I don't even care what a guy is wearing, as long as it's clean and he doesn't smell.

I wear it for interviews or funerals or some special occasion. Otherwise, yeah. It's t-shirts and jeans. I don't even think I have a pair of khakis anymore...
Lonely Ronin Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 If fashion is important to a woman, of course she is going to judge you on what you wear. Shoes are something most guys suck at picking out, so if he has good looking shoes he's probably decently conscious of fashion.
KungFuJoe Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 It's common fashion knowledge that shoes are the most important part of your ensemble. Now that doesn't mean you have to wear Salvatore Ferragamo but it just means don't wear some beat up old raggedy sneakers or something stupid like brown shoes, black shirt, etc.
Barnacle-Bob Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Shoes are a great indicator or style. Shoes and hair.
SteveC80 Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 I like to dress up i dont understand ddues who dont mind looking like total slobs.Dont you want to look good and feel good by how you look? Plus i judge women on what they wear..if she has a pair of dumpy shoes im gone..Even the feet if shes wearing open toes and her feet arent well groomed that tells me a lot about her already

The last girl I dated, who I was totally in love with, owned only two pairs of shoes. Both of them were kind of beat up sketchers, one belonged to her sister even. Didn't take away from her attractiveness at all...

ltjg45 Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Like everything else, I use logic when it comes to fashion. If everything matches in one color, I would wear it, including the shoes. If it doesn't, I don't wear it. Nice, simply, and socially acceptable (I think). As for the female, if I can't see me being with her for the rest of the night without being embarrassed, I'm bolting.
fortyninethousand322 Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Sounds like a frumpy chick:sick: i need a stylish sexy girl plain janes dotn do it for me I'd show you a picture but I don't like posting people's photos online without permission. I don't think she was frumpy. But, maybe that's just me...
Emilia Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Like everything else, I use logic when it comes to fashion. If everything matches in one color, I would wear it, including the shoes. You must get a couple of female friends to take you out shopping ASAP
jcrew11 Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Women love their heels and manolo's, so its more accurate to say women are just obsessed with footware. But I would try wearing socks with sandals on your next date to test her reaction. Also, since women are shorter than men, its easier for her to look down. I don't really think it matters unless the man is a slob. I don't like Bostonian's - they are now very cheap and the leather cracks easily, what a waste of money.

But, maybe that's just me... Fair enough but the whole only owning two pairs of shoes thing would totally turn me off I could imagine her wearing shoes with holes in it
Keenly Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 This is one of those "women can be just as shallow as men" moments.
fortyninethousand322 Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Fair enough but the whole only owning two pairs of shoes thing would totally turn me off I could imagine her wearing shoes with holes in it I don't think they had holes in them, though I don't know for sure. She had two pairs that looked like this. One black, one white.
ltjg45 Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 You must get a couple of female friends to take you out shopping ASAP In order for that to happen, I have to find a couple of females that I can actually be around without getting angry due to the way they act.
SteveC80 Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 I don't think they had holes in them, though I don't know for sure. She had two pairs that looked like this. One black, one white. So she owned only sneakers? what about if she had to dress up to go some where she wore sneakers?
