I have been in a relationship with another woman for 12 years. I relocated to be near her six months after we met. We have never lived together nor do we now. The relationship has lost the romance and spark we once had. We live 8 miles from each other and see each other once a week and one weekend a month, when my child is with her father. Intimacy is minimal. We have sex once in a great while. Once there was 8 months in between. She is 47 and menopausal, I am 42. Although I do understand how menopause affects a woman, she simply refuses to talk to her doctor about hormonal options. We do not live together as she doesn't want too. I should mention she built a house with her gf before me. That girl left her for another woman and the one before that left her for another woman. I am loyal and faithful other but it appears we do not want the same things. I want a home together, intimacy, and romance. It doesn't help that I am thinking of someone else. I would love to be involved with her family but that is not allowed. My family knows about her and accepts her. Her family does know about me but my gf won't allow me to be involved with them. She will not go to counseling. Has the relationship ran its course?

Your needs aren't being met within the relationship. How extensively has this been discussed with your partner? What was her reaction?

Will anything change? If so, how would you envision that happening? If nothing improves, would that be acceptable to you? Could you live indefinitely with the status quo?

Well, I did tell her my feelings. That certainly didn't help as she became upset at me for telling her that I felt she only gave 25% in the relationship. She did admit later that she felt she does give at least 50%. I need to decide if I am willing to accept that. Not an easy decision to make when I know she is faithful.

Sounds like you are getting nothing out of this, just for the sake of being in a Relationship and not rocking the boat. There is a bigger world out there and you deserve much more, we all do.

You said there is someone else you may have a spark of interest in. Well, have one last long talk with current GF, then I would probably end things with her ( not that there's much to end or unravel by the sounds of it ) and move on ! Life is too short !

Good luck and welcome to LS, let us know what you decide. :)
