Do I go out with guy? But this might mean complete end to anything with ex?

Hi Im still devastated about my ex dumping me 5 weeks ago but we still talk and our on good terms and sometimes i think when we will get back together (read other threads for more details) I love him with all my heart and would do anything ANYTHING to have him back.

 

But today one of my old friends who's a guy has invited me to go on a long road trip to somewhere i really want to go and im debating it. There's no romantic interest for me but I no he has always liked me in that way and is so sweet and kind but im just not attracted to him (hate seeming shallow but I just am not).

 

But obviously if I go and my ex finds out (they have some mutual friends) that will be me and my ex completely over for good. And i wouldnt want that as this would just be a distraction to keep my mind off him and going somewhere ive always wanted to go.

 

I dont no weather to go or not, what would you guys think? And also i dont want to give my guy friend the wrong impression since this is just to travel not me wanting to spend time with him like that... thanks x

Don't go. You're not emotionally available, you don't even like this guy in that way and you are not ready to get into it with anyone.

 

I'd also strongly advise you to cut off all contact with your ex for the foreseeable future. He's holding you back from moving forward and healing from the heartbreak.

 

Otherwise, you run the risk of jeopardising any future potential relationships, where there is mutual attraction, because you are still holding on to the past.

 

Do not use your old friend to feed your ego. If you don't see any romantic potential, do not lead him on to feel better about yourself and your attractiveness.
