I am 29 year old and went back to college and still have a long way to go to get my degree . sure I have a job , car, my own place no roommates. I do not make that much money 18.60 an hour is not livable wage.

I work 40 hours a week and I am taking two classes so time is tight. I got weekends off but I do a lot of my home work at that time.

As of late I have been giving up dating , friends , family , tv, Xbox ,drinking, partying, sports, working out , meeting new people, sleep , sex, going out , and everything I once enjoyed to get to my goals.

When I think about it I real do not have any friends it hard to make them it hard .I got rid of my freineds because they were geting into partying and drugs other things do not want to get into.

People who are native Seattlites have their circles of friends whom they've most likely known for many years, and it's tough to break into those circles.

Seattle is one of the toughest places to be single. It's easy to get along but making friends is almost impossible. People will say they want to hang out with you sometime and look at you like a freak when you actually suggest something. People enthusiastically say they are coming to a party then don't show up. People are flaky and hard to pin down. Girls lead you on for weeks and snub you with no explanation. People are insincere. Norms of social interaction don't apply here. Most people don't like or dislike you, they're totally indifferent. Every interaction will be maddeningly superficial.

Rather than be outgoing and kind to others, men and women in Seattle have decided that the best way to be friendly is to simply leave people alone to do as they please.

With everyone leaving everyone else alone, it has become unnatural to talk to strangers. Indeed, those that do try to go out of their way and meet someone new are seen as strange and possibly off, and are often tolerated until the moment that the Seattleite has the opportunity to leave.

Any attempt to socialize begins to feel like too much effort some times. when Seattleites say, "Let's do something sometime," what they really mean is: "Let's never do anything ever."

People here have a real hard time telling if someone likes them. When a guy asks a girl out, she can't tell, is this a date or a non-date date? And when a girl is nice back, guys say, does she like me or is she just being nice?

On top of that i am a little older then most woman in school do not know if it a good thing or not.

I have been trying to meet new people and be outgoing as I can .

Also I do not know if i have time to date I want to but my homework is more important the woman . I have been just trying to go with the flow and take life as it comes . Not to mention working on myself and issues .

My boyfriend found someone (me) and he is almost in the exact same shoes you are.

The having time thing was never an issue. We spent most of our time at home anyways. You can always make time for the right person.

I went back to school to get my teaching certification as a guy in his mid-30s. I really have no desire to date any of the girls that I've had in my classes, but I can see how easy it would be. First of all, as an adult, you would have a leg up, because you can take a girl someplace better than Applebees for dinner. Secondly, you're more mature than the young guys, so you have (hopefully) elevated your game and its loks shooting fish in a barrel.

The girls I've met in school don't do a whole lot for me, especially the 18-22 year olds. But if i wanted to, it would be easy pickings. IIRC, you are in a nursing program....wow, it should be a free-for-all for you.

I had no idea Seattle was like that. Sounds like any rural place in the US where you are considered a newcomer if you've lived there ten years because most people grew up there.

It is just finding the time to date and getting out there more .

I assume you've read this.

And I agree: The PNW is weird like that. Which is why you should look for other people who are new to the area. Try meetup.com.

This article makes me want to punch someone in the face.

I've never been to Seattle but I used to go to Portland, OR for work. It was nothing but hippy dippy bullsh*t and homeless people sleeping in big piles in the doorways of downtown buildings.

Dang, I wonder why they are like that. It sounds like a miserable place to be.

Back on topic though, I think you are in a good spot. You will have access to single young ladies through school. Also, if you meet some other older non-traditional students you will have a common bond with them that might lead to friendships or romance, who knows?

I understand what the OP is saying about Seattle. I lived in CO for awhile, and its like that there, too. Very clique-ey. The rock climbers hang out with the rock climbers, the skiers with he skiers, the kayakers with he kayakers, and so on. People in those areas tend to be hardcore about their activities and naturally gravitate toward others who do the same thing. It can be really tough to break into social circles.

But there is one sure-fire way to do it: get out and do things.

And if Krieger is in school, and a nursing program no less, he should be pulling ass pretty much without effort. And one way to break into a social circle is to be on the same career track. Krieger is making excuses....dude, you don't have time because you have to work and study? How about studying with a cute girl? Two birds, one stone.
