ls32ssibm Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I used to feel like I was "missing out" by staying single, but over the past few months I feel much better about it. More motivated, more self-centered (a good thing in my case), and more optimistic. I have a small road trip planned this summer with my best friend that I'm really looking forward to. I don't expect any drama/fights/bad memories to come from it either like came from my last trip with my ex. 3
Mr_Flay Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 IMHO, being in a great relationship is no different than the sense of liberty when you're single. A great girlfriend won't sap your motivation and optimism, and won't cause any drama or fights if you want to go on a trip with your friend. So I can't see why having a girlfriend would be any disadvantage. If you're in a bad relationship, that's different... 2

Such periods of "solitude" should be opps for R&R and absence of pressures and burdensome commitments. Reasonably, that is. Use the time to regroup, replenish and reassess and head back to the dating scene (if desired). Hopefully after all that, you'll be gearing to go with a fresher, more optimistic attitude, good for you and the potential partner.
KatZee Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Yep. Once I got out of that "shocked" mentality of being newly single (hadn't been single in literally 7 years) I realized how great being single is. If someone is depressed and not enjoying being single, they clearly aren't living the single life correctly! I have plans almost every single day. I do girls nights, girls trips, brunches, events, I'm always down to do everything and anything. I love being out and meeting new people and trying new things. I've been single for 10 months now and I love it more every single day. I answer to no one. I do what I want, when I want. I don't have to worry about drama or being concerned about how someone else is going to feel if I tell them I'd rather go out with girlfriends than stay home and do nothing with them. Recently I've dabbled with the idea of getting back into dating, but not necessarily to find ONE PERSON to spend the rest of my life with, but to date around, go out on weeknights meeting new guys, having drinks, and then going back home to my huge bed that I can sprawl in! Being single has really given me that confidence that I never had when with my ex. I walked down the street yesterday in NYC and within an hour period I had 5 guys blowing up my ego. It was ahhhmazing. LOL. I could never bask in all that glory if I had a boyfriend next to me! 3
Archgirl Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Hellz yeah! Plus there's way more opportunities to flirt How you doin'? 2

Most of here know that's one-in-a-million.

Author ls32ssibm Posted March 23, 2013 Author Posted March 23, 2013 Being single is pure win. Especially being a single male in your mid 20s. I can still date 22 year olds for another 5-7 years without seeming creepy, easy. My ex-girlfriend, who was 5 months older than me, has "peaked". I don't make the rules.

I'm 25. No one flinches if/when they see me with a 32 year old, nor do they flinch if the girl is 21. My age window is accepted pretty much no matter who I date. I'm not a 55 year old going after a 21 year old or an 18 year old with a 35 year old. It's a good window to be in right now
Barnacle-Bob Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 After adjusting to being single after being married, I would say that for me to ever venture into a realm of not being single again: - the girl was the most amazing, fantastic, incredible and beautiful woman ever to walk the Earth - every planet in the solar system must simultaneously align - somebody would have to give me a LOT of money - they would also have to have a gun pointed at my face If those four things all happen, I will possibly consider another relationship. 1

If if never happens, so be it. But I want my first true relationship to be my last.

I threw those other qualifiers in for a reason. The first one is just not enough. Remember, the p*ssy you get is not worth the p*ssy you'll get.

Does she not take care of herself? I'm going on 29 and I still haven't peaked. I doubt I ever will. I'm just to f.ucking amazing. 1

I'm just to f.ucking amazing. I know plenty of girls who have peaked. And a lot of them are now in free-fall. The common denominator is that all of them were superficial and b*tchy and got what they wanted with their looks. Then the well dried up. The funniest/saddest part is watching them cling so tightly to their 'swagger', but you can tell by looking at their eyes that they spend a lot of time crying. And drinking.

There are men who will love women for who they are, if the women let go of their ego, pricey handbags and beamers. 1
pbjbear Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Some women age well. There are men who will love women for who they are, if the women let go of their ego, pricey handbags and beamers. I do that and its never gotten me anywhere. Im 25 and have yet to find a guy who will treat me the way Ill treat him. I find men to be too selfish and expect you to do most of the work in the relationship and that they are hypocritical with their behavior and what they expect from you. In all seriousness, Ive been single on purpose for the last 7 or so months. Ive turned down all dates. Ive been much happier. I have alot of friends though. It is annoying because even though Ive told my coworkers and friends I dont want a boyfriend a thousand times they still constantly try to set me up on dates and when they try to do it with douchey guys I get even madder. Its like few women can be by themselves...(I know men like that too)
