Sexy Teddy Bear Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 So I have long hair, a few inches past the shoulder. I grew it out in my previous relationship because my ex liked it. Eventually I started to take a liking to it as well. It is such a pain though! It take forever to wash, forever to brush, forever to dry, it always get in the way. I find myself almost wanting to cut it simply because of the hassle. But I've grown it for so long I'm kind of attached to it (no pun intended). I'm curious though as to how other people feel about long hair on men. Girls in particular. Not that It would matter, if a girl doesn't like me because of my hair, why should I even try to date her? But I'm just curious. Do you like it? Do you think it's attractive? Do you prefer long hair over short hair? Or do you simply not care either way? Post your opinions.

I've dated guys with long hair in the past, so it's not a dealbreaker or anything. But I have to say that I'm generally not a big fan and often it's a minor turnoff (but can be mitigated by other factors). The real question is whether you like it, as you say.
iKING Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 I used to have long hair too. Not quite as long as yours, but down to the neck. Never had problems getting certain types of girls. Go for shorter if you want to broaden your options. Or at least medium length and kinda swooped to one side. That one looks good.
Els Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 I'm not a huge fan of long hair - girls don't typically like it on guys the way guys like it on girls, I think. If you're finding it to be a bother, probably a good idea to cut it (and be glad that the more convenient option is also the better-looking option for your gender)
venusianx13 Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 I actually think long-ish hair looks attractive on some men. However, it must be well-kempt and he must also have good hygiene in all other respects as well. If it suits you, why cut it? There are women out there who will like it. 1
sweetkiwi Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 I like longer hair. Even when I had super short hair myself I found it attractive. But then again I am a total weirdo. 3
will1988 Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 when I had longish hair for a while I hated the feeling on my ears... also I looked a lot like jack black with my long sideburns and all. However, because my gf is a hairstylest I get my hair cut once every 4 to 6 weeks. I personally think if you like it, and you can rock it, then chicks will like it too... then again it is all about how it fits your face/frame/overall loook etc...

He's hilarious. And it's *hairstylist*. 1

Author Sexy Teddy Bear Posted March 21, 2013 Author Posted March 21, 2013 Yeah, I like it. But I don't know if I like it enough to put up with the hassle. I have been thinking about cutting it for a while now. I also have a terrible hair type. It gets all frizzy and poofs out. I have to straighten it pretty much everyday in order for it to look good. It's okay if I pull it back into a ponytail, but then it looks like a bunny tail from behind As I said, i only grew it out for my ex. She loved it. She thought it was downright sexy. Especially the wet curly look when I'm fresh out of the shower. That drove her crazy. I never would have grown my hair if it weren't for her. And I'm glad I did. The only style I used before I met her was a buzz cut......hey, don't laugh. It was extremely easy to maintain.

I used to have very long hair...bangs touched my belly button. My hair is blonde. Girls were always jealous of the color lol (think Legolas from LOTR both color and length). In my experience, I found about 10% of women really liked it, most did not. And for many women they will not date you if you have long hair. But the ones that do like it, you'll be perceived as very attractive (granted you take care of it). My girlfriend at the time was all about my hair. She got mad when I even cut an inch off. And I feel you on the hassle. Once I cut it off I asked why I didn't do that earlier. So much easier to manage. lol 2
Author Sexy Teddy Bear Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 I used to have very long hair...bangs touched my belly button. Oh my god. I would love to have my hair that long, even just for a day to try it out. And put it in one long braid. Like Khal Drogo from Game of Thrones. Ever since I saw that show I have fallen in love with his hair 1
zebracolors Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 OP if you decide to keep the long hair, a girl who is attracted to you might not be so just from it, but rather the whole mental and physical package that she sees in you. Be comfortable in your own skin (and hair style), rather than being/looking a way that someone else would feel comfortable with. As for me, in a previous LDR I used to be in, the man had shoulder-length hair. But at the time I began to crush on him, it wasn't just because of his hair, rather the hair was just part of the whole physical package. 2

Ever since I saw that show I have fallen in love with his hair I was a headbanger I'll tell you, that hair took like 6 years to grow starting from a buzz cut haha I cut it off and donated to locks of love. Hopefully it will bring some joy to a poor little girl going through chemo. 5

Like Khal Drogo from Game of Thrones. Ever since I saw that show I have fallen in love with his hair Well, it seems like you love your long locks. And good for you, then! You should keep them if you want to; the right girl will love you for you. Frankly if I woke up and found myself transformed into a guy, I'd go out and get mine cut right away. The only reason I put up with the bother and inconvenience that long hair entails is because it's hard to pull off short hair as a woman, so I guess I can't see why a guy would want to put up with all that for dubious benefit. But maybe I've just never been a hair person.
tuxedo cat Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 On the rare, rare guy it looks good -- better than short hair. My ex had long hair before he met me (I saw pictures) and he looked a lot more attractive with it. But the vast majority of men can't pull it off and look infinitely better with short hair. And it pretty much never looks good on guys who have wavy or curly hair. I also think past a certain age it looks juvenile. 1

BetheButterfly Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 I was a headbanger I'll tell you, that hair took like 6 years to grow starting from a buzz cut haha My husband was a headbanger too lol. He still loves hard rock, and he still has long curly hair. You can't see it in the pic, but that's because he normally pulls it back into a ponytail. He's had long hair since he was a teen. He's the only guy I've ever dated that had long hair, but my Dad had longish hair when he and my Mom were dating, and a cousin of mine has long hair (He is a musician and it just seems to go natural with him). I don't think long hair on men looks or is bad at all!!! I also like long hair on me. I cut it off and donated to locks of love. Hopefully it will bring some joy to a poor little girl going through chemo. That's awesome. If someday my hubby cuts his hair, I'll recommend that. He has awesome curly reddish-black hair that needs to have good use if it's no longer on his head. While he's not planning on cutting it right now, he did say that if someday he had a job that required a haircut, he'd be ok with that. Right now though, he's very happy that I'm happy with his hair, cause his sister and sister-in-law tell him to get a haircut. 1

Drogo in physical features reminds me so much of my husband it's really amazing. My husband could play that part lol! (except he's a pacifist and Drogo isn't one). Jason Momoa, who plays Drogo, is an awesome actor and wears long hair very well! Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, and Antonio Banderas also are great actors who have worn longish hair very well too. 1
