the_matt Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Do you Photoshop or Facetune your photos on Facebook or dating sites? I have a friend who does and he says that it's OK since if for example you have a zit when the photo is taken its OK to edit it out. On the other hand it feels a bit like cheating. What do you think?
carhill Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I'm not particularly photogenic and have never edited my photos and I started taking them for OLD back when digital cameras were new and expensive, about 17 years ago. Overall, I think the results were satisfactory. I dated a bit after getting divorced a couple years ago and the unedited photos didn't seem to be an issue.

I retouch. Even bought Portrait Professional for when I shoot photos of others. Love it. I usually try to edit to show what I see with my eyes or in the mirror. Cameras will often show an unflattering view. When I retouch, I try to show what my eyes honestly see. I don't try to make a total lie like magazines do. I think there's nothing wrong with putting your best face forward. Zits clear up and such. I just think it's lying when you totally change yourself...like Photoshopping off excess weight or leaving hair on your head when you're bald.
veggirl Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I am not on OLD but no I don't edit any photos of myself that I put online. It's so obvious when people do that...well I think it is anyway....and if I was OLD and I could tell a guy was brightening or instagramming his photos, I'd be turned off, like whats wrong with your normal appearance?
FitChick Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I use Microsoft Photo Editor's red eye removal tool when I take flash photos of myself. I crop my photos so I don't show unfolded laundry or pile of filing in the background. That's it. I wish I had Photoshop to remove an ex's hand from my back or around my shoulder in a few photos because I looked really good!
