SJC2008 Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 I like black guys a lot... and I am now with an old bald white dude. I seriously doubt that is what he is saying. people have preferences, that doesn't mean they automatically rule out anyone that ISN'T what they prefer. Exactly! I don't prefer black women but if I meet one I like and am attracted to I'm not going to let that stop me from dating her.
snowflakes88 Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 No problems meaning you've dated white men in Texas/Houston? Like I said I've only seen 3 examples (I actually remeber a 4th now lol) in 20 years here and one includes me. My nephew who has a black father lived with us until he was 5. When I'd take him out people would stare and it bothered me. No, I've only dated one white man and that was when I was in California. However, I've done online dating on and off for a year or so and have gotten plenty of messages from white men in Houston. I definitely saw more interracial couples in the bay area - unsurprising, given the more liberal attitudes. I'm not limiting my responses to white men, mostly b/c OP claims she only opened herself to white men because she's convinced no black men like black women who look black. I'm just saying that hasn't been my experience with either white men or black men, on any of the three coasts where I've resided.
snowflakes88 Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Bottom line is that despite what anybody said, missjones wanted to have a BS attitude about it. I told her the girl that I hang out with is light-skinned, but if she was dark-skinned with the same features (facial, body) that I would still be all about her. Missjones response was 'oh, what....is that supposed to make me feel better?'. Uhhhhh, yeah. I'm telling you that her complexion is the last physical attribute I care about. So, yeah, it should make you feel better, because I'm telling you that I actually like dark-skinned girls equally to light-skinned girls. Sorry it doesn't jive with your construct of 'nobody likes dark sisters'. So just go sit by yourself and be grouchy and fulfil your own prophecy. Then you can ceeate all the evidence you need to satisfy your argument. And to the poster who said attitude doesn't matter in dating, you just saw a case in point for how it does. Feeling that dark is ugly makes her go home and cry every day, but she only wants to hear people tell her that dark is ugly.
jlola Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 if you like darkskinned women so much then why aren't you with one?? You dont know how many times I've heard this line from men who are with light/mixed women...that they'd still date these women even if they were dark while they continue to exclusively date nothing but light/mixed women. you're just feeding me a bunch of BS. if she were darkskinned you wouldn't have even approached her. just be honest about it. no point in lying to me to try to make me feel better Miss Jones, I find this topic so interesting. I am from Portuguese /latin decent. My mother has lots of brothers and sisters so we have lots of cousins . I have noticed most of my male cousins date or marry darker skinned caribbean or Latin girls.Few married Portuguese. It seems darker skin is a definite preference for those male cousins living in the U.S. Look ,realistically you will age better and have the advantage of a beautiful chocolate color. that will not burn and shows less flaws. If there are some guys who prefer lighter, who cares!!!!Their loss. You would probably be very popular in Norway or Sweden where your color is rare. 1
Author MissJoness Posted March 21, 2013 Author Posted March 21, 2013 And missjones, I stated earlier that I've hung out with all kinds of black girls. One girl I was digging a lot, and she was so dark that when she put on a black t-shirt the s**t looked grey. I stopped hanging out with her because of her garbage attitude. Had nothing to do with her complexion. And FTR, I don't exclusively do anything. men always use the excuse that the darkskin woman had a garbage attitude to justify their reasons for excluding us:rolleyes: i've never heard any man make up a reason to exclude dating lightskin women. never.

And being singe is the worst thing that can happen? I'm single and it does not defy me. I am happy with who I am and what I have. Believe me, it is slim pickings out there and there are a lot of people in relationships that are miserable. I have been one of these people and so much happier with less drama and bs. If I NEVER get married so what!! So many things in life to be happy about! Sure, I would love to find a partner, but in this age of entitlement, disrespect and me,me,me, it gets pretty hard to find a good one. You really want a husband? Norway or Sweden, even Germany . Just saying:) You have no idea how popular you are to many if you look outside the box. . You have no idea so many people would trade places with you because you will have the ability to look young for a long time. People pay tons of money for what you have and their surgery still does not make them look young, just weird. You dismiss all your positives because you are not in a relationship??

Haha, you just wont let it go, will you? Ease up on the death grip for a minute and take in some information objectively, or at least as objectively as you can. Yes, the reason I stopped hanging out with that girl was her s**tty attitude. She thought she could walk all over everybody but expected to be treated like a princess. Here's some more news....I've stopped hanging out with white girls for the same reason. I'm not spending time with a girl so that she can have a s**tty attitude with me and then turn around and put her hand out when she wants something. Nope. I don't put up with that crap....white, black, light, dark, rich, poor. You want to be on some BS, go find somebody else. I have no tolerance for that. I don't exclude any 'type' if I'm attracted to them, we're compatible and, oh yeah, they can be cool. Treatment is always the limiting factor...not darkness. Sorry to eff up your construct. I seriously doubt that is what he is saying. people have preferences, that doesn't mean they automatically rule out anyone that ISN'T what they prefer. jcrew11 Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 European white men seem to be interested in dating black women. Halle Berry is dating some French white guy and another Canadian model.

Barnacle-Bob Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 But why would someone want to be with someone that prefers something else? Why would I want to be not quite the best choice for someone? Because in the real world, you have about a 0.003% chance of getting with somebody who is exactly what you want. So, in reality, hardly anybody is exactly what the other person prefers.

So, in reality, hardly anybody is exactly what the other person prefers. Not talking about getting EXACTLY what one wants, like a preference in hair color or height. If someone would say, for example, that they prefer asian men/women over white men/women, thats a much bigger difference than a run of the mill preference. Example, I could handle a woman's preference for blue eyes over my brown. Thats just my eyes. But if someone prefers an entirely different race, then really, I'd just be wasting my time and hers.

Not necessarily true. I like a man who looks like Boris Kodjoe, but so what. I am not going to jut look for men like that. I have dated blond men,Asian men and it is the person I am ultimately attracted to. My only criteria is a man takes care of himself physically. Race or coloring does not matter.

Right, I get that. But I don't think JR was saying she prefers black guys to what she has. I think she said she likes black guys but ended up with a white guy, so its not like she couldn't get a brother and had to settle for a white guy.
Barnacle-Bob Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 In my 30 years on this planet, I have never heard this. Not to mention she completely, seemingly intentionally, ignored what I said in the first place.
Author MissJoness Posted March 21, 2013 Author Posted March 21, 2013 In my 30 years on this planet, I have never heard this. I've heard this all the time. People use excuses to not date dark women because we are ugly, bad attitude, and ghetto. I've never heard people make up reasons to not date a lightskin/mixed/white woman now that this white guy doesn't like me i dont know what to do. no telling when another white guy is gonna show interest cause it doesn't happen often.
Roadkill007 Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Its colorism dude. Ive heard more than enough white guys say theyd hook up with a dark chick but wouldnt date her. Well why wouldnt he date her publicly? Clearly hes attracted enough to sleep with her. Weve gone over this in other threads before. Some people in our country date folks based on public show...not always solely based on what theyre attracted to. And sometimes family has something to do with it and other times its something else it's interesting because this colorism shows up in other places too. Apparently in the Philippines, there's a huge social boost you get if your skin is lighter toned. When women go on cooing another woman's baby, a feature they'd praise is the lightness of the skin tone.

I can think of three reasons that I would not date a light-skinned girl: 1. she's ugly 2. she's got a bad attitude 3. she's ghetto 1
