I know it's customary to send a follow-up text after a first date just to say thanks and whatnot. But is it necessary to do this again after a second date, if the date went really well and you made plans to meet up again already? It seems a bit unnecessary, but then again I'm not sure I should be texting stuff like "it was lovely to see you again last night" in case it seems to be coming on too strong.

Sorry if this seems like a naive question. I haven't dated in years and the rules seem to have changed a lot!

I would totally text after the first date, but I don't know about the second... I would wait for him to initiate the conversation afterwards.

Stop thinking about it, and just do what you think is right.

If you have something to say, then say it.

Don't be so formal though, be more like 'you looked so pretty tonight, can't wait to see you Friday. x'

Don't put the kiss if you don't do that yet, but I'm alway throwing them on messages.

You don't need to text, but she's probably like it if she's interested.

Thanks ladies and gents. In the end the problem solved itself - she texted me first. I'm pretty sure that's a good sign!
