Hopeful30 Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 I've spoken to this ex maybe twice in the last two years (just a friendly catching up). A week ago I got a call saying him and his new wife were having a baby. I'm happy for him because this is what he has always wanted, and its one of the reasons we broke up (he wanted kids and I didn't). I've been over him for a while but for some reason when I heard the news it got hard to breathe. Has anyone else experienced this? I don't know why it's such a shocker cuz thats what you expect when people get married and start a new life. I knew it would happen eventually. I don't know why I got this pang of emotion in my gut when he told me. I'm over him and I have been in a relationship after him. I just don't know why this is such a shock. Anyone else experienced this?
Disenchantedly Yours Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Yeah, I experienced something like that. I didn't want to get back together with my ex when I heard. It was just a bit of a shock. It's a BIG life step. When my friends started having babies, I was really happy for them as well BUT it was an adjustment to see them move into that stage of their life. I suspect your just experiencing some shock from that. I wouldn't worry that it means more than that. I think it's a normal feeling. You might not be interested in being with him again but remember that you did once have a bond with him. Even when you find a man you fall in love with that is even better than your ex, we still make connections with people and while the relationships might end, some of the connection on a human level is always there. It's been written in your history.
