Im sorry, but the economy excuse is getting old...esp with the economy on an upswing.

No, people shouldnt be harshly judged on their job as long as they take care of themselves....but judgement is warranted if the person is making poor decisions with their career.

If I was a mailman, enjoyed it, and a girl judged me harshly since its not a glamorous job...then she can go kick rocks. But if I was a mailman, hated my job, and was only there because other things didnt work out for me because of my own doing, then shes got a point in being turned off.

It all depends sometimes

It can be in an upswing with a 0.1% growth after a 25% loss.

It's still an upswing.

And any government worth it's salt would lie about it like crazy since faith is what props money today.

The economy on a upswing? LMAO That's a laugh

Do you watch the news or read financial reports? We are no longer in a recession. We are in a recovery. Lots more people are working than they were back during the recession, and the DOW has increased significantly.

Again, maybe where you live but where i live unemployment is still hanging around 10%. Which is either the worst or second worst in the country.

So wait a minute, a woman wants a man who is

Financially stable

Emotionally stable

Tall

Handsome

Considerate

Good in Bed

Good Credit

Guy who loves his job

Guy who drives

Guy who lives alone

Guy who doesn't cheat

Where is she going to find all of that? LOL

Pretty much anywhere. I can't think of any men I know in real life who don't have all those attributes (besides the good in bed, which I don't really want to know about).

You can always move, if it's hard to find a good job.

I can't fault anyone for not having a job (or not having the job they want) during a recession. BUT. . . you can't fault women who have options from wanting to date a man who is employed and (preferably) has a job he enjoys.

Being un/underemployed is stressful and creates uncertainty. That doesn't mean he's a bad person, but why would a woman want to date him?

In this new SHAKY ECONOMY

no one should be putting big emphasis on someone's job

If you're part of the <10% that has no job, why wouldn't a woman want someone in the 90% that actually has their ish together?

Yes, because they will do whatever it takes to succeed in life, and they won't settle for less than that from a significant other.

Um, yes. At least depending on the bar you set for "handsome"...and for most women, that bar is set pretty low and, like a PP said, is mostly about things under the man's control.

I think it's pretty funny that you keep even putting driving on that list. 99% of everyone over age 18 (and not legally blind, I guess) at least has a driver's license; that isn't a high hurdle, it's basically a minimum qualification for adulthood!

Sounds like it's a lot of sharing going on in your area LOL.

Just because someone is unemployed does not mean they do not have their sh@# together. I managed an apartment building then a new buyer came along and wished to manage it as well. My old company left and i stayed with the new. After three months they had all the required information from me they needed i was terminated. They then hired an assistant manager for less money.

seeing that I was bored and miserable working retail and had to find something that was a lot more mentally stimulating.

What drew me to nursing, not as a man but as a human, was the interaction with people and the reward of helping others. To know deep within your heart that what you do everyday makes a positive impact on the lives of many, often total strangers.I am a good listener and i have a ton of patience's ,very easy going kinda guy ,caring, and compassionate. Plus,I will will always have a job and will have a flexible schedule. working only 3 days a week will be nice as well. Also I like to be on the go at work and always doing something and not sitting at a desk all day .

In fact, if a woman is so shallow that she bases her impression of you strictly on your job, then you probably don't need to be with her. Being a nurse is about having the desire to heal people, ease pain, comfort families, and advocate for your patients. It isn't about attracting a woman who you find sexy.

My point being even though I have a ways to go in reaching my goal of becoming a nurse i can care less if a woman will not date me because i a male nurse when i become one.

On a up not I am more confident in the way a walk and talk and carry my self sine i made it up in my mind to go for it.

When I was just working and not doing much of anything retail was bring me down and I had no motivation to go out on my days off . I hated life almost every day and was a no fun to be around.

yea I should not define myself by my job but it hard not to for me when I know it not my true calling in life. I was not put hear to stock shelves and be a cashier my whole life.

No woman wants there man coming home depressed and then sit around the house dwelling in that darkness that is self-hatred not doing his best as a man to make some thing of him self.

I do not think it a money thing sure it be nice to make a ton of money ,but they want you to be happy and have passion for what you do.

OK back to my homework .

If you can't find a new job in <4 months, you're either not looking hard enough or you have a useless skillset. Sorry.

THANK YOU, even though I was unemployed in 2012 I still managed to

pay my rent on time

pay my bills

save money

still helped people find jobs

Because you can't wrap your head around the idea that most men manage not to be losers? LOL.

I know that most men have roomates and kids and more than one girlfriend

This presumes that women replicate on their own, that of course, the male specimens had no part in the creation of the litter.

Well, we do have sperm donors so if the woman wanted to, they can go down that route instead.

So, yeah, she doesn't "need" a male if she don't want to. We got so many single mothers these days that being one is simply another part of life.

Being a property manager trained in both section 8 and LIHTC programs in not a useless skillset. But never being one you wouldn't know that. I look very hard. I apply to every ad for both manager and assistant manager that appear in the psper and several websites. Arrogant jackass.

The only attribute listed that appears to be a challenge, would be the "Guy who doesn't cheat". There are plenty of men and women who have cheated in their lifetimes, anywhere from 20 - 60% of the population, no matter whether they're attractive or not. So that's why it's important for people to find partners who don't need a lot of external validation, confident within themselves and not inclined to take for granted what they already have.

It all depends sometimes

If this economy was on a upswing, as you would say, a person like me should be an easy target for a hire at an entry-level job like Burger King or McDonald's.

I, as a potential employee, has:

1. 2 years of cashier/janitor experience at Target

2. Doesn't smoke.

3. Doesn't drink.

4. Has access to public transportation.

5. Open availability

6. Is willing to do any job provided I get suitable training

7. No police record of any kind.

8. Willing to accept minimal working pay

9. Doesn't job hop

10. Willing to work 35-40 hours a week

11. Has no tattoos.

I'm not sure what else to add. I would think I would be able to find some trash job pretty quickly given the quality of employees I see at fast-food places so I can get my butt back on my feet and start going for what I really want.

Yet all I got to show for it is a big, fat bag of air.

I'm not buying this "economy on an upswing" BS. If it is, Jacksonville FL was clearly exempt from it.

Don't even waste time responding to that idiot. When you are unemployed there are some weeks when you see nothing to apply to at all which is out of your control.

And time goes so fast when you are not working, 2 months is gone just like that

The economy is on an upswing. And Napoleon is on the verge of conquering Russia. And the Denver Broncos are the favorites to win Super Bowl 47.

Oh wait...
