Other than bars, what are some good places to meet potential dates? I'm in my early thirties if that makes a difference.

My boyfriend met me at a Barnes and Noble Starbucks.

He is 31.

He is 31.

What was his approach like, if you don't mind me asking? Did he just walk up and say hello and introduce himself?

Posted

Meetup groups, volunteer work, the mall, book store, coffee shop, singles club, taco bell (), church organizations, block parties, regular parties, through social connections, community classes.

Just generally being out of the house around random people helps.

Sort of :p

It took him a bit [i am pretty sure he walked by me about 10 times while I was sitting outside.] and he even left, then came back and finally walked up to me and asked if I was waiting for anyone.

I said no, and he introduced himself and recommended we grab coffee sometime. He got my number, called me that night and the rest is sort of history.

I think it was a good line, I could have said yes, and he would have known to continue about. I said no though, so he used the opening to continue.

Taco bell disgusts me, so I doubt I'd find Miss Right hanging out there. Thanks for the recommendations though. I'm a member of some groups, but wanted to see if there were some other places I hadn't though of.

I will always recommend going places that YOU enjoy. It gives an automatic conversation starter.

Don't be afraid to cold approach though.

That's awesome. Thanks for sharing.

Best Buy. Most girls don't know about electronics and are always looking for help if they're there alone, so it's an easy opener.

Home Depot too.

Brilliant, I never thought of that.

Pose as a undercover master-mind of all things tech, It's sure to win the ladies.

Seriously though you might give it a try, that is a convenient opener.

Places I have been cold approached:

- Every shopping place I can think of.

- School.

- Bowling alley.

- Pool Hall.

- Concert.

I am open to it all, I don't think there should be rules as to when to approach or not. See an opening? Go for it!

Pool halls are another good one.

anywhere women frequent, such as:

victoria's secret - the workers there are generally hot.

department stores like macy's usually have hot employees working the makeup counter.

parks where single moms hang out.

Don't forget your trench-coat and binoculars.

A creepy mustache might help too.

I'd disagree with VS. It's an intimate place for panty shopping. Plus, you don't know if she's there shopping for things to wear for her boyfriend.

All scream creepy to me.

Those are all places I would NOT want a man to hit on me.

If you wouldn't be there for yourself, I wouldn't hit on a woman there.

All of these things are good suggestions for meeting people. Doesn't mean you will find a date but you will at least meet others this way. Whatever you do, don't loaf around the house and be miserable or confine yourself to the online world.

In California, the supermarket Trader Joes is seriously the spot. Tons of attractive women and you know they are health conscious.

Again this may be very so cal, but if you are a guy, get a dog and walk him every day. Great ice breaker and its stunning how many beautiful women love a cute dog...

I love going to the hardware store alone. Most of the men look all pumped up and ready to build something, and the clerks will take as long as you want helping you, walking you all over the store, and exchanging fun "tool" innuendo. "I just need a few screws."

There are always CUTE guys at Trader Joe's here, too - and most of them seem sweet and kinda hippie

This works in AZ too, I didn't adopt my poochie/best friend for that reason, but as it turns out he's a great wingman. It helps that he's adorable beyond belief, women just can't help themselves.

I like walking around Home Depot anyway, so this just gives me another excuse to go there.
